The company is part of a larger group and manages complex public sector IT projects, covering systems integration, informatics and analytics, solution implementation and program management.
The role centres on Citrix engineering and day-to-day administration for CVAD, Citrix Provisioning Services and Citrix Workspace Environment Management.
The team spans systems design, software development, data science, security, machine learning, cloud and mobile work, and the company was acquired by Accenture in July 2024.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, patch and upgrade Citrix infrastructure, delivery servers and Citrix databases.
Administer CVAD, PVS and WEM in virtual environments such as VMware, and manage the virtual machines that run the operating systems beneath Citrix.
Enforce data security and protection policies by managing access to solutions, and identify and audit user access to sensitive systems in line with procedures and regulations.
Detect, diagnose and resolve service disruptions quickly to restore availability and protect data integrity, tracking incidents in ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
Plan and validate releases of new Citrix systems and changes to existing ones into pre-production and production, keeping downtime short and preventing data loss.
Define, collect and manage metrics for Citrix, operating systems and servers, and check error logs, system events, database events, disk space and storage events using tools such as SCOM to find and fix problems early.
Install, configure, schedule and monitor Citrix infrastructure as part of ongoing maintenance.
Define and schedule Citrix backup plans and strategy, confirm restorability, integrate OS-level backup systems such as NetBackup, and manage data retention.
Define and gather key performance metrics for Citrix and the operating system, and tune them to keep the solution performing correctly.
Meet SLAs by setting up and monitoring High Availability and Disaster Recovery, using SCOM and Citrix Infra Monitoring.
Build and run DevOps pipelines that push Citrix configuration changes to production using Puppet, Azure DevOps and Flyway.
Write, schedule and monitor scripts in Bash, Puppet, Python, PowerShell and similar tools to automate repetitive tasks.
Design, reverse engineer and document conceptual Citrix solutions and models, and write and update standard operating procedures.
Put Citrix changes and releases into production and other environments in line with standards and procedures.
Work with development, architecture, applications, security, networks and service management teams to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
Present differing views to stakeholders, help them reach workable compromises, and build teamwork.
Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to internal teams so they can take over routine tasks confidently.
Handle incident and change tickets assigned in the ITSM tool immediately, follow them up, set priorities, and resolve them within agreed timeframes and SLAs.
