Firmware Engineering Intern

Description

The role is onsite, with an expectation that you will work mainly from a company office.

The company builds technology that helps businesses connect, protect, analyze and act on data across edge and cloud.

This internship suits a software engineer who wants to learn software and hardware security, key management and post-quantum computing.

Responsibilities

• Help design and build improvements to the key signing infrastructure.
• Help design and build product security features that use the TPM 2.0 security chip.

Requirements

• Be working toward a bachelor's and/or master's degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical field.
• Understand software and security engineering, including software signing.
• Use open-source software while understanding code provenance and how to maintain it over time.
• Have strong working knowledge of the Linux and FreeBSD kernels.
• Code in C, C++, Python and Rust, and learn other languages as needed.
• Solve problems well.
• Communicate clearly in writing and speaking.
• Hold a BS or MS in computer engineering, computer science or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with TPM 2.0 and devID as specified by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG).
• Plus: familiarity with different CPU architectures and Hardware Root of Trust (HRoT).
• Plus: familiarity with post-quantum computing and signature algorithms such as ML-DSA.

Conditions

Onsite work, primarily at a company office in the United States.

Base pay is hourly, USD 40.00 to 46.00 in California, and may vary by location, experience, education and skill.

Variable incentives may be offered on top of base salary.
