Description

The company's SaaS products run on AWS and Azure, and this role keeps the cloud environments behind its ESS software products and customer deployments secure, reliable and efficient.

The Site Reliability Engineering function within Cloud Operations aims to keep SaaS products reliable, scalable, secure and cost efficient. The work blends software engineering with operations, covering critical incident response, proactive problem management, error budgets and toil reduction.

You will work closely with Product Development (R&D), Quality, Security and Customer Experience (CX) teams to support dependable product delivery and customer operations, and with peer cloud, infrastructure and platform teams across the wider organization.

Responsibilities

  • Run Cloud Maturity Assessments for products on AWS and Azure using standard scoring templates, weighted maturity dimensions and heatmap or dashboard reports for leadership, then turn the gaps you find into a prioritized improvement backlog.
  • Set reliability standards for observability and service health, and push consistent operating practices across products and platforms so run operations scale and SLAs are met consistently.
  • Lead provider and internal operational readiness reviews (FTR and WAFR style) to confirm workloads meet validated standards, and follow up on day-2 improvements that come out of them.
  • Apply SRE practices including SLIs and SLOs, error budgets, capacity planning, load and performance work, and automation that cuts manual toil.
  • Lead post-incident reviews and reliability work that measurably improves uptime, resilience and operational consistency.
  • Success is measured by: every product completing a standard Cloud Maturity Assessment on AWS and Azure with clear maturity levels, gap analysis and remediation roadmaps; measurable gains in operational readiness, including standard observability, alerting, runbooks, DR and backup readiness, and lower incident impact; and a working partnership with other stakeholder groups that delivers maturity improvements through release roadmaps.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, plus 10+ years in Cloud Operations, Site Reliability Engineering or Infrastructure Administration.
  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, production operations, platform engineering or DevOps supporting SaaS systems.
  • Hands-on work with production workloads on Azure and/or AWS, covering networking, IAM, monitoring, logging, scaling and DR or backup patterns.
  • Solid understanding of observability (metrics, logs and traces), alerting strategy and incident response.
  • Skill at turning operational gaps in a product into a prioritized backlog and getting partner teams to deliver the fixes.
  • Understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems and virtualized environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation languages such as Python, Bash, Ansible or PowerShell.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Ability to work with global teams across time zones.
  • Preferred: experience running structured operational readiness reviews (such as FTR or WAFR-like reviews) and following through on their outcomes.
  • Preferred: experience with CloudWatch and/or Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, building operational dashboards and alarms.
  • Preferred: experience applying SRE practices such as SLOs, error budgets and toil reduction in a production environment.
  • Preferred: understanding of cybersecurity practices, cloud compliance frameworks and vulnerability management.
