The Site Reliability Engineer role is a hands-on engineering position that keeps the company's data and analytics platforms reliable.
You will cover data platforms, integrations, pipelines and related services, including Google BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Power Platform, and the Azure and Google Cloud services around them.
You set service-level indicators and objectives, error budgets, monitoring, alerts, dashboards and runbooks, and you lead incident response and root-cause work.
You also set engineering standards and give technical guidance to engineers who support these services, working with data engineering, application, cloud, security and governance teams.
Responsibilities
Run reliability and operations work for the data and analytics platform, covering BigQuery, Fabric, Power BI, Power Platform, pipelines, integrations, automation, reporting services and dependent cloud services.
Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, availability and performance targets, monitoring and alerting standards, dashboards, runbooks and health metrics.
Review telemetry from monitoring, logs, traces, admin consoles, pipeline runs, query performance, capacity, usage and cost tools to find gains in reliability, speed, security, scale and efficiency.
Work with data, application, cloud, security, governance, analytics and infrastructure teams on platform design, integration patterns, deployment, release readiness and production support.
Build automation for provisioning, deployment, fixes, monitoring setup, environment checks, pipeline health checks, alert enrichment, access reviews, incident workflows and operational reporting.
Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, resilience work, disaster recovery, backup and restore checks, continuity planning, architecture reviews and production readiness assessments.
Troubleshoot and fix incidents across platforms, workloads, pipelines, APIs, automation flows, connectors, workspaces, gateways, permissions, queries, semantic models and dependencies.
Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, post-incident reviews, corrective actions and reliability plans that reduce repeat issues and improve the customer experience.
Give guidance, standards, implementation patterns, peer support, operational reviews, documentation and reliability expectations to engineers on the platform.
Support secure, compliant, cost-aware and well-governed operations through access controls, data protection, governance, utilization reviews, lifecycle management and reporting.
Requirements

Have deep knowledge of SRE practice: reliability, observability, automation, incident response, root-cause analysis, SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and production readiness.
Have run reliability or support work on enterprise data and analytics platforms used for reporting, engineering, integration, automation, BI and productivity.
Have worked with Google Cloud data services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, IAM and networking, and have troubleshot workload or job performance.
Have worked with Azure services and operations, including Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure networking, identity and access management, resource management and cloud-native administration.
Have worked with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power Apps, gateways, connectors, workspaces, data pipelines, semantic models and platform administration.
Can monitor, troubleshoot and tune performance, capacity, reliability, availability, jobs, queries, pipelines, APIs, integrations, automation flows and dependent services.
Understand identity, access, security, governance, compliance, data protection, backup, recovery and change management for enterprise data and analytics platforms.
Have built and governed dashboards, alerting standards, runbooks, support documentation, platform standards, reliability scorecards and improvement plans.
Have used automation, scripting, infrastructure as code, configuration management and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Terraform, PowerShell, Python or similar.
Have used observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Monitoring, Grafana, Datadog, Dynatrace or similar.
Can guide infrastructure, security, data, application, cloud, governance and business technology teams toward better reliability, supportability, standards adoption and customer experience.
