Design Engineer

Description

The role covers CAD design, technical specifications, product selection and configuration, and production support for value-added work, matched to customer requirements and the company's strategic plan.

The team builds and updates designs and documentation and helps keep manufacturing running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Work with sales to prepare final quotes and hand them over to clients.
• Support the field when needed.
• Come up with system concepts across mechanical, electrical, tooling and fixturing.
• Plan job production with colleagues in other departments so deadlines are met.
• Build the bill of materials, covering product pricing, labor estimates and expected delivery dates.
• Work with purchasing to keep inventory and components stocked.
• Update designs and related documents to reflect changes or improvements found during production.
• Help write process documentation and support manufacturing operations.
• Create design standards and put them into practice.
• Create or revise CAD drawings, including detailing once an order arrives, to meet client requests and design specifications.
• Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Typically a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• One to three years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• Preferred: experience in an engineering setting, with automation a plus.
• Preferred: experience in design, detailing, 3D CAD and machine design.
• Listen closely and grasp the core of what others say.
• Work well within a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
