Description

The company is in a major transformation of how it operates and how it will shape the future of transportation.

This role sits in the Software Services team, which is looking for determined, inventive people to help the company move forward.

The Connectivity team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in a Site Reliability Engineering role.

Responsibilities

  • Keep critical software systems reliable, scalable and fast, and solve hard engineering and operations problems.
  • Find ways to make systems more resilient, improve processes and build scalable solutions, using data to guide decisions across teams.
  • Take ownership of work from identifying a problem through to delivery, with little oversight, and act as a technical resource and mentor for other engineers.
  • Watch the performance and availability of software, troubleshoot connectivity issues across all vehicle programs and test environments, and prevent incidents before they happen.
  • Respond to incidents, run root cause analysis and put corrective actions in place so similar incidents do not recur.
  • Build and maintain automation and test infrastructure that streamlines deployment, configuration management and monitoring.
  • Analyze system performance, find bottlenecks and optimize efficiency and scalability.
  • Work with development teams so reliability and scalability are designed into software from the start.
  • Spot process gaps, adopt best practices and lead initiatives that improve reliability and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems development.
  • Exposure to module development, product development, execution, systems engineering, systems integration or validation.
  • Working knowledge of Python and Autobot for scripting, automation, test execution and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in vehicle data communication systems, including CAN and Ethernet.
  • Understanding of networking and software development in distributed systems.
  • Strong technical leadership: you can understand complex systems and explain them clearly to others.
  • Creativity, initiative and sound independent judgment, with the ability to deliver quality results with little supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience developing requirements, features and detailed designs, and delivering production releases.
  • Ability to find root causes, and to track and communicate corrective actions to multiple stakeholders.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in an engineering field.
  • Preferred: Experience with the company's production software development process and issue tracking systems.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, cellular, CAN and V2X simulators and test devices.
  • Preferred: Connectivity experience, such as telematics, infotainment or modules.
