Description

The company's product teams are reshaping how people get around, using human-centered design to build vehicles, hardware, battery systems, software, and safety and entertainment features.

Its products carry millions of people every day, and the aim is cars that are safer, more intelligent, and better connected worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end OTA deployment strategy for a vehicle program that is launching, and drive that plan through the global vehicle development process.
  • Build and carry out an OTA readiness plan so the launch and OTA features are in place before vehicles go on sale.
  • Track implementation timelines and the rollout schedule of the vehicle program.
  • Create the payloads and campaigns that deliver a VeSCoM, and monitor how they perform.
  • Build dashboards that track delivery status, writing and tuning complex SQL against relational databases and big data platforms.
  • Lead resolution of development issues that have no clear owner or need several functions to work together.
  • Own the OTA deployment method end to end, working with SW VSE, SIT, PQE, and PEMs so a VeSCoM reaches the capture test fleet and customers successfully.
  • Learn the core strategy, feature, UX, and operational requirements for OTA programming.
  • Lead the cross-functional effort across product development, aftersales engineering, customer experience, and others who support software updates, from project start through validation, approval, and delivery.
  • Work with the System Integration Team to build and run a full integration plan that secures strong performance in the field.
  • Run formal closed-loop learning on problems found in update campaigns, returning them to their owners so corrective action lasts.
  • Drive process improvement and efficiency gains, including building skill with the growing OTA toolset.
  • Define and refine scalable processes, and document them clearly for current and new team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science, or equivalent experience in automotive or engineering.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • SQL skills, with experience using relational databases and big data platforms.
  • Working knowledge of OTA updates and vehicle connectivity technologies.
  • Strong analytical ability for unusual problems, and the skill to find and remove roadblocks.
  • Proactive and results-driven, with high initiative and personal accountability.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating well with them.
  • Strong project management, interpersonal, and technical skills, with a focus on risk management and process maturity.
  • Proven ability to multitask, perform root cause analysis, drive results, collaborate across functions, and influence others in ambiguous or fast-moving settings.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication.
  • Ability to write concise project status updates and direct leadership attention to key issues.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in automotive electrical systems and/or vehicle programming.
  • Preferred: experience in a structured systems engineering environment using formal requirements engineering, change management, and configuration management processes and tools.
  • Preferred: familiarity with the company's business processes, systems, and tools, including eMERGE, SPR, PRTS/JIRA, VSMSOTA, GSIM, R2T2, GSPAS, VCAM, and Vehicle Spy or CANalyzer.
  • Preferred: knowledge of DFSS principles and continuous improvement methods.
