Environmental Engineer

Description

The team works on environmental solutions for a manufacturing site, with a focus on air, waste and water compliance programs and on reducing environmental risk.

The role works across functions with varied groups to build and roll out sustainable, top-tier solutions that improve compliance and sustainability across the site.

The work takes place in an active manufacturing setting, as part of a team that is working toward the company's zero-emissions, zero-crash and zero-congestion goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead steady, ongoing environmental stewardship programs.
• Work with local and state regulators.
• Come up with inventive fixes for hard environmental problems.
• Use technology and data to build and keep up environmental management systems.
• Track environmental readings and performance, then recommend ways to keep improving.
• Help shape system designs that protect the environment, adopt current technology and offer lasting environmental fixes.
• Learn how the plant's manufacturing systems and processes work, so you can support air, water and waste programs, run the site's Environmental Management System, and lead the site's habitat and educational outreach program.
• Work with business partners and regulators to prepare required filings and reports, and to schedule and carry out compliance testing.
• Support colleagues on the wider team, travel to other sites when needed, and work with others to improve systems and standardize practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or a related science.
• Experience in environmental engineering or related sciences and/or regulations, such as air permitting, stormwater and wastewater permitting, hazardous waste generator rules, or other environmental media.
• A track record of delivering projects.
• Ability to motivate yourself and do well in independent work.
• Preferred: basic understanding of automotive manufacturing processes.
• Preferred: experience in environmental engineering or a related science, ideally at a manufacturing operation.

This is a full-time, onsite role at the Factory Zero facility.
