The role leads the basic software and tooling that underpin current and future vehicle electrical architectures.
You will work where software, systems engineering, embedded controls and vehicle-program delivery meet, turning technical strategy into coordinated delivery and dependable infrastructure for engineering teams and end customers.
You will own execution for one or more basic software (BSW) and infrastructure-tooling products that support existing and upcoming electrical architectures. The job suits someone who can switch between product strategy, hands-on engineering detail and daily execution.
Success depends on a customer focus, sound technical judgment, steady follow-through, and the ability to lead through shifting scope, uncertainty and setbacks without relying mainly on formal authority.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of deliverables across one or more BSW and/or infrastructure-tooling products.
Turn corporate strategy into technical roadmaps with timelines, milestones and measurable outputs.
Run programs from requirements through deployment, covering scope, schedule, implementation planning, dependencies and risk handling.
Work with product, engineering, systems and business partners to define and deliver enterprise-scale infrastructure programs.
Direct internal and external resources so programs meet scope, schedule, budget and quality targets.
Set how program work runs: intake, prioritization, ownership, handoffs, escalation and decisions.
Spot technical, organizational and schedule risks early, lay out trade-offs, and give leaders short status updates with options and a recommendation.
Review program health and change scope, schedule or budget when needed to meet objectives.
Build and maintain core program documents: execution and product-lifecycle plans, decision records, readiness criteria and status reports.
Create processes for program activities and push continuous improvement.
Serve as the daily contact for client and engineering stakeholders on status, decisions and changes.
Convert complex engineering issues into business decisions and firm commitments for technical and senior leadership forums.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree in engineering, business, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
At least two years of project or program management, or related experience.
At least five years in embedded controls, software architecture, systems engineering or a closely related technical field.
A record of leading technically complex, cross-functional programs from strategy through implementation and operational adoption.
Ability to analyze unusual, complex design problems and decide on data in ambiguous, fast-moving settings.
Strong written, spoken and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and negotiate with stakeholders, leaders, engineers and peers.
Proven ownership of results, consistent follow-through, and commitment to safety, quality and customer needs.
Preferred: a master's degree in engineering, business, computer science or a related field.
Preferred: two or more years of project or program management in architectural domains such as embedded controls, embedded infrastructure, virtualization, continuous integration or continuous delivery.
Preferred: knowledge of basic software functions and embedded software development processes.
Preferred: experience with the AUTOSAR Classic Platform (application, communication, runtime-environment or basic-software components), or with similar automotive software architectures.
Preferred: experience scaling engineering capabilities across several programs, architectures or product teams.
Preferred: experience defining governance, standard work, readiness criteria, performance metrics or operating models for a new technical capability.
Preferred: Project Management Professional certification.
Integrity: build trust through transparent commitments, sound judgment and honest escalation.
Teamwork: align diverse technical teams on one outcome and work across organizational lines.
Accountability: own delivery, including dependencies outside your immediate team.
Customer focus: direct infrastructure work at engineering partners, vehicle programs and end customers.
Urgency: turn ambiguity into a workable plan and clear blockers before they reach critical-path milestones.
Openness to change: question existing methods and scale better ways of working when evidence supports them.
