Platform Engineer/Architect Senior

The company is a fast-growing business that supports the DoD and other intelligence agencies worldwide, building mission-critical national security systems.

The role is a senior platform engineering and architecture position supporting the DFAS Common Computing Environment (CCE), covering advanced engineering, Tier 3 support and infrastructure modernization.

You would implement and maintain enterprise technologies, work through complex system faults, produce technical designs and keep infrastructure running reliably.

Responsibilities

• Give senior platform engineering support across the DFAS CCE infrastructure.
• Handle high-priority Tier 3 DFASNow tickets for the CCE.
• Help bring new hardware and software into the CCE.
• Test, configure and install new technologies, and make sure they do not clash with what is already running.
• Prepare briefings, studies, project estimates and cost-benefit analyses.
• Write detailed design documents for critical design reviews.
• Support monitoring and service delivery for CCE infrastructure.
• Keep engineering network configuration documentation current.
• Work with government team members to agree coverage and balance workload.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in enterprise systems engineering.
• Strong Windows Server administration skills, shown by AZ-801 and AZ-802 certification.
• Security+ certification showing baseline security knowledge.
• Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms.
• Skilled in MECM, SCOM and the wider Microsoft System Center suite.
• Experience with Active Directory directory services.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft and Linux server administration.
• Experience writing technical documentation and design specifications.
• Familiarity with DoD change control processes.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or a related field.
• Certifications: Microsoft Azure AZ-801 and AZ-802, plus CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent DoD-approved IAT Level II certification.
• Active Secret security clearance is required.
• Maintain whatever clearance level the client requires, along with any certifications FEDITC or its clients and prime contractors request.
• Optional, preferred: CISSP certification as a step up from Security+.
• Optional, preferred: Azure administrator certification.
• Optional, preferred: VMware VCP certification.
• Optional, preferred: experience with DFAS or DoD financial systems.
• Optional, preferred: prior DoD infrastructure engineering experience.
• Optional, preferred: knowledge of DISA STIGs.
• Optional, preferred: experience with containerization technologies.

Conditions

Active Secret clearance and US citizenship are required to be considered.
