Mendix Developer

Description

This full-time Mendix Developer role sits in information technology and supports the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS) program.

You will use the Mendix low-code platform to design, build and release enterprise applications for transportation and logistics work on mission-critical defense systems.

You will work with business stakeholders, system architects and other developers to deliver applications that are scalable, secure, easy to use and aligned with operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Build, test and release applications on the Mendix low-code platform.
• Model data and build microflows, nanoflows and page layouts in Mendix Studio Pro.
• Connect Mendix applications to external systems, databases and APIs.
• Create RESTful and SOAP web services for system integration.
• Design responsive interfaces that meet accessibility and usability standards.
• Write custom widgets and modules in JavaScript, Java or React where needed.
• Improve application performance and keep applications scalable.
• Apply security best practices and meet government compliance standards.
• Review code and enforce Mendix best practices and coding standards.
• Work with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
• Diagnose and fix defects and performance problems.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Help deploy applications to development, test and production environments.
• Write and maintain technical documentation for applications and integrations.
• Mentor junior team members and give them technical guidance.
• Track Mendix platform updates and new features.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance.
• US citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of software development experience, including at least 2 years of Mendix development.
• Strong command of Mendix Studio Pro and Mendix platform architecture.
• Experience with domain modeling, microflows and page design in Mendix.
• Working knowledge of REST and SOAP web services, including integration work.
• Understanding of relational databases and data modeling, with SQL skills for querying and manipulating data.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum, and with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Clear communication and strong collaboration skills, including working well with other teams.
• Ability to build wireframes from requirements.
• Desired: Mendix Rapid Developer or Advanced Developer certification.
• Desired: experience with JavaScript, Java, HTML5, CSS3 and React.
• Desired: knowledge of Mendix mobile app development.
• Desired: experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Desired: familiarity with AWS, Azure or Mendix Cloud.
• Desired: understanding of microservices architecture.
• Desired: experience with transportation or logistics systems.
• Desired: knowledge of DoD security requirements and compliance standards.
• Desired: experience integrating with government systems and databases.
• Desired: background in enterprise application development.
• Desired: familiarity with JIRA, Confluence or similar project management tools.
• Desired: experience with SAP S/4 HANA.

Conditions

Full-time, regular position with up to 10% local travel.

The role can be worked from more than one location.

The salary range shown is the national average for the position.

Proposed salary range: $75,200 to $158,100.

Final pay depends on location, federal government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant prior experience, specific skills and competencies, education and certifications.
