Description

The company lets people pay over time with clear terms, no hidden fees and no surprises.

The Card Experiences team builds the customer-facing parts that make the card simple and trustworthy, covering the cardholder journey from ordering a card to each use.

The work spans web and mobile front ends and the backend services behind them.

You will work with product, design, risk and operations partners to turn customer pain points into shipped changes and measure their impact with data.

You own features from defining the problem through launch and production monitoring, and help raise reliability and on-call health.

The company uses AI to build faster, improve what it ships and make customer experiences more helpful, while holding a high bar on security and craft. Because a card handles trust, speed never comes before quality.

Responsibilities

  • Set the team's technical strategy on a one-year horizon and tie it to critical projects with business impact.
  • Work with product, design and analytics so that technical sustainability, risks and trade-offs are understood and managed.
  • Multiply the team's impact by defining and promoting technical solutions and operating processes.
  • Own the team's operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing and alerting that support run-the-service and on-call work.
  • Build a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards, and promote them beyond the team through writing and talks.
  • Grow teammates through feedback, guidance and your own example.

Requirements

  • This is a full stack role: you have 8+ years designing, building and launching large-scale backend systems in languages such as Python or Kotlin.
  • You have a deep record of building highly available distributed systems on tools such as AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
  • You have 8+ years of total experience as a software engineer.
  • You are skilled at building web apps with declarative UI frameworks such as React Native, React or Vue.
  • You have proven experience designing, building and launching systems at scale.
  • You have led major features or system components, or retired existing functionality, through a technical and execution plan. Your code is clear and easy for others to use.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can move from low-level language details up to the architecture of large systems.
  • You adopt new technology early, apply trends safely and think AI first.
  • You have clearly learned from feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers over the course of your growth.
  • You can communicate clearly in speech and writing with a global engineering team.
  • You have either equivalent hands-on experience or a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
