Description

This is a mid-level or senior liaison engineer role supporting post-production modifications for the Interiors, Connectivity/VIP, Avionics, Airplane Performance and Systems (AP&S) and some BCF (the company Converted Freighter) product lines, based in Long Beach, California.

The work spans every model, from the older McDonnell Douglas (MD) series to the 777X.

You will apply advanced design and engineering knowledge to build interim and final fixes for production problems and for technical, operational and quality issues the customer cannot resolve. You will take creative approaches to complex nonconforming conditions and to spotting deviations.

You will analyze failures, troubleshoot to find the root cause, and help identify solutions. You will also make sure suppliers and build partners meet the company's standards and represent engineering after production.

Responsibilities

  • Act as home-side liaison for ongoing modifications across all four product lines: Interiors, Connectivity/VIP, Avionics/AP&S and BCF.
  • Provide on-site modification liaison when core support teams are unavailable.
  • Write, coordinate and disposition IDRs for airplane modifications.
  • Review and answer airline customer Service Requests in the Modifications Support queue of the company Communication System (BCS).
  • Apply design principles to assess and fix product and process problems across the product lifecycle.
  • Research technical, operational and quality issues the customer cannot resolve, then design interim and final engineering fixes.
  • Log and analyze reported problems, flag deviations that could affect design intent or safety, and lead their resolution.
  • Run root cause analysis and write dispositions for design nonconformances.
  • Develop and roll out product and process improvements.
  • Join integrated product teams (IPT) and design reviews.
  • Coordinate closely with internal and external engineering teams.
  • Represent engineering from build through post-production.

Requirements

  • Required: a bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry, or a non-US equivalent directly related to the work.
  • Required: 3+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Required: current MRB certification, or certification held within the last 2 years.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of higher education or related work experience. Higher education counts college, university, technical school and licensing or certification programs.
  • Preferred: a multidisciplinary engineering background.
  • Preferred: experience supporting aftermarket modifications.
  • Preferred: experience with Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA and PDM.
  • Preferred: ability to lead, work independently and in a team.
  • Preferred: experience providing product definitions and technical support to groups, suppliers and external customers across the lifecycle.
  • Preferred: knowledge of the aircraft certification process.
