Description

The company is a fast-growing startup in the nuclear and energy sector that uses AI and technology to develop a fleet of next-generation nuclear reactors. It builds one reactor design and then produces many units from it, aiming to deploy safe, reliable and affordable nuclear power sooner.

Every employee is expected to use AI, technology and the Nuclear Operating System (NOS) as a core part of their work, and to look for ways to automate workflows, improve decisions and processes, and help NOS evolve.

The team hires people motivated by purpose who work well with uncertainty and enjoy building things that have never existed. Candid feedback, continuous learning and high standards are part of daily work.

This is the company's first dedicated recruiting hire. The company plans to grow from a founding team to hundreds of employees, and the recruiter will build the hiring function to keep up with that growth.

The company is looking for a Lead Recruiter to find and close the engineers, project and construction leaders, regulatory and licensing specialists, supply chain and finance professionals, and corporate staff it needs. Many of these candidates come from a small, specialized pool that is already in demand.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the executive team and hiring leaders to pin down priorities, timelines and the profiles needed
  • Source actively for scarce nuclear talent and reach out to candidates directly
  • Lead searches for senior, critical and technical roles, including project leadership, while keeping a steady flow of candidates for experienced and early-career positions
  • Design the plan for growing the talent acquisition function, including when to bring on recruiters, coordinators and sourcers and how to onboard and develop them
  • Set up the recruiting foundation from scratch: the applicant tracking system, CRM, sourcing tools, scheduling and reporting, and the workflows linking them to HR, Finance and Legal
  • Hire, manage and coach recruiters as headcount grows toward hundreds of employees
  • Build and use your own network, and develop relationships with universities, military transition programs, professional associations and specialist search firms
  • Present the company to candidates as a fast-moving startup backed by a global investor and working on a generational energy mission
  • Advise hiring managers on market conditions, realistic timelines and what it takes to win candidates
  • Guide candidates through the process from first conversation to signed offer, and win over hard-to-win talent
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance and Legal on pay, offers, relocation and onboarding
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences and hiring fairs

Requirements

  • 8+ years of recruiting experience, with substantial full-cycle, in-house work for technical, engineering or project-based organizations
  • Experience in nuclear or a closely related regulated, safety-critical field such as utilities, power generation, EPC, defense or national labs, with the ability to discuss technical work credibly
  • Experience setting up or improving recruiting tools and processes, ideally building a talent function from the ground up or scaling one through a major growth period
  • A record of hiring senior leaders and hard-to-find technical people in competitive markets
  • Strong sourcing skills and an active network, with a preference for direct outreach over job postings
  • Experience at a startup, new venture or fast-growing company, and the ability to scale hiring quickly
  • Comfort with ambiguity, speed and changing priorities
  • Strong communication and influence skills, with the credibility to advise both executives and candidates
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: direct recruiting experience for nuclear developers, reactor vendors, utilities or large capital projects
  • Preferred: experience supporting joint ventures, carve-outs, or companies backed by private equity or institutional investors
  • Preferred: recruiting for large-scale construction, infrastructure or project delivery workforces
  • Preferred: familiarity with security clearance processes, export-control requirements or NRC qualification requirements
  • Preferred: prior experience building and leading a recruiting team, including hiring, managing and developing recruiters
  • Preferred: willingness to travel to project sites, offices and industry events
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with AI-enabled recruiting tools and automation

Conditions

The estimated starting salary is $118,000 to $140,000 per year, before withholdings and deductions, paid bi-weekly. The final offer may differ based on factors the company decides, such as experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, candidate availability, geographic location, certifications and other relevant criteria.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay packages
  • 401k with company match
  • Medical, dental and vision plans
  • Generous vacation policy plus holidays
