Description

You will join the company as a technology consultant for HPC hardware, working with external customers and internal project teams.

The company provides edge-to-cloud technology that helps organizations connect, protect and analyze their data and applications.

You will give technical support and leadership on solution design and rollout, and build trust by learning each customer's business.

You will track emerging technology and industry trends, share what you learn from customer work, and help set technical direction for the team and its clients.

Part of the role is growing revenue: keep billable hours on target or support internal teams, find new business, and give technical input to proposals.

At this level you apply subject expertise to routine and occasionally complex issues, may lead projects, and recommend alternatives when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Check in daily and carry out your work on site at the customer's location.
  • Watch over the health of HPC compute, network and storage systems.
  • Run hardware diagnostics and repairs on a daily basis.
  • Open, follow and close support cases for your assigned systems until the customer is satisfied.
  • Return failed parts following company policy and the customer's SLA terms.
  • Keep availability reports that measure SLA performance.
  • Manage the on-call rota so coverage runs 24x7x2/4 all year.
  • Help install new systems by hand, covering hardware and software, and take part in customer acceptance testing.
  • Manage the on-site spare parts stock.
  • Mentor junior colleagues on case handling, skill growth and matching their work to company goals.
  • Join occasional training trips.
  • Work as a team member and build strong relationships with colleagues and customers.

Requirements

  • You have 4+ years of professional experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Without a degree, you need 3 more years of relevant experience, for 7+ years in total.
  • You have hands-on experience installing and repairing servers, storage and switches.
  • You have extensive experience troubleshooting Linux-based hardware.
  • You hold CompTIA Security+ and Linux+, or an equivalent such as RHCSA, RHCE or CISSP. If you do not yet hold the certification, you must earn it before your start date.
  • You live near the customer's assigned work location.
  • You can work on site for rotational, after-hours and weekend on-call shifts.
  • You can work with little oversight and also collaborate well in a team.
  • You can explain issue impact and expected outcomes clearly to customers and internal teams.
  • You can trace complex faults in mixed technology environments to their root cause.
  • You speak confidently with senior managers, inside and outside the company, and stay professional.
  • Other skills the role calls for include leadership, accountability, active listening, client expectations management, critical thinking, cross-functional teamwork, customer-centric solutions, CRM, follow-through, growth mindset, long-term planning, managing ambiguity, process improvement, product services and relationship building.

Conditions

This role is labelled Remote/Teleworker, but you will work on site at a federal customer in Vicksburg, MS, 5 days a week, and more if on-call work requires it.

You need a TS security clearance; TS/SCI is preferred at the time of hire.

Base salary is USD 84,400 to 194,200 a year in Mississippi; variable incentives may also be offered, and the final offer may vary by location, experience, education and skill.

Job level code is TCP03 in the Services category.

The company is an equal opportunity employer, and it considers applicants with criminal records as the law requires.

Benefits

  • Health and wellbeing benefits cover physical, financial and emotional needs for you and your loved ones.
  • Development programs help you reach career goals, from becoming a subject expert to moving into another division.
