Description

The company makes search software and a search AI platform that helps people find information from all kinds of data, in real time and at scale.

This role leads the engineering team for Global UX. The team owns the company UI (EUI), the company's design system and React component library, along with shared patterns, tokens and tools that keep the company products consistent, accessible and high quality.

You will work alongside the team's Tech Lead, who sets technical direction and architecture. Your focus is on people, roadmap and delivery: hiring and growing engineers, building a realistic roadmap, and keeping the team aligned with Design and Product Management on what gets built and when.

The ideal candidate has led design system or platform teams and can weigh long-term investment against ongoing requests from other teams. You can also set a delivery schedule that the whole organization can depend on.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow engineers who build and maintain EUI and other shared design system infrastructure across Global UX.
  • Own delivery: sprint planning, the quarterly roadmap, outcomes, and status updates for stakeholders across the company.
  • Handle hiring, onboarding, performance management and career growth for the team.
  • Build a healthy team culture in a fully distributed, async-first setting.
  • Represent Global UX in cross-functional planning with engineering, design and product leaders.
  • Clear blockers: negotiate dependencies with other teams, deal with organizational friction, and raise risks early.
  • Track design system adoption and health (usage, satisfaction, migration progress) and use those numbers to set roadmap priorities.
  • Maintain relationships with consuming teams, collect their feedback, and make sure their needs shape the roadmap.
  • Support the team's experiments with AI-assisted design-to-code workflows and developer tools, balancing new work against delivery commitments.

Requirements

  • Previous experience managing engineering teams that build design systems, component libraries, or other widely used shared UI or platform infrastructure.
  • Experience running delivery for a team that serves many internal stakeholders, including sprint and quarterly planning, roadmapping and outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of frontend engineering (React, TypeScript, component architecture), enough to weigh technical tradeoffs with your Tech Lead and engineers.
  • A record of hiring, developing and retaining engineers, including growing people into more senior roles.
  • Strong stakeholder management. You can share roadmaps, tradeoffs and risks with engineering, design and product leaders.
  • A track record of balancing platform investment against urgent feature requests from consuming teams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with experience in a distributed, async-first team.
  • Experience using usage, satisfaction and migration data to guide roadmap decisions.
  • A collaborative leadership style that earns your team's trust without requiring you to be the most technical person in the room.
  • Curiosity about how AI is changing design-to-code workflows and developer tooling, and the judgment to help a team adopt new practices responsibly.

Conditions

Pay is base salary only. There is no variable compensation component.

The typical starting salary range is €67.000 - €106.000 EUR. The final offer within the range depends on relevant experience, skills and expertise, fit with the role requirements, and the scope and complexity of the position.

Salary ranges are set using external market benchmarks, internal pay equity, and the responsibilities of each role.

The company is a distributed company. Flexible locations and schedules are available for many roles.

Export controls apply to individuals located in or nationals of Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or Russia, including the Ukrainian territories annexed by Russia (the Crimea region of Ukraine, the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), Kherson or Zaporizhzhia). If you are in or a national of one of these, an export license may be required as a condition of employment. National origin and nationality do not affect eligibility for employment.

Accommodation requests during the application or recruiting process can be sent to the candidate accessibility address listed in the original posting, and the company replies within 24 business hours.

Benefits

  • Pay based on the work you do, not on your previous salary.
  • Health coverage for you and your family in many locations.
  • Generous annual vacation allowance.
  • The company matches up to $2000 (or local currency equivalent) in financial donations and service.
  • Up to 40 hours each year for volunteer projects.
  • At least 16 weeks of parental leave.
  • Parity of benefits across regions, adjusted to local regulations.
