Description

The role sits in the Global Data Team and centres on planning solutions for the whole organisation, working with the IT team on BI planning systems and cross-functional projects.

Projects reach every entity and business unit worldwide and feed into a closely linked finance planning process, so many dependencies must be considered.

Your work covers system-based concepts and processes for finance planning, including P&L and COGS, balance sheet, cash flow and quantities of goods.

The role also supports one of the largest initiatives of the coming years: moving the planning tool landscape to a new, future-proof solution.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyse and challenge business requirements for finance planning systems.
  • Translate business and process needs into system concepts, Business Scope Statements (BSS), that IT can build from. Define scope and structure and document requirements, keeping all cross-functional stakeholders aligned.
  • Act as business project manager on your own projects or on highly complex ones, choosing the project management approach and methodology that fits the complexity, urgency and length of each project.
  • Build project plans and work packages with IT, covering end-to-end process and data flows. Set realistic timelines that account for resources and constraints.
  • Track progress and milestones, record them in the project management tools, keep deadlines on track, set priorities, communicate proactively, and find ways around bottlenecks.
  • Help define requirements and design processes and data flows for the multi-year programme that modernises the group's finance and sales planning processes and technical setup.
  • Design efficient test concepts, run detailed end-to-end solution tests, and coordinate user acceptance testing with business stakeholders to ensure quality and functional integration.
  • After testing, write detailed internal technical and process documentation. Prepare the go-live cut-over plan with the data and process governance team, business and IT, deliver detailed training, and hand over to all stakeholders.
  • Provide second-level support, drawing on your knowledge of the tool landscape, processes and data flows.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in finance or controlling. Ideally this came from a role as controller, IT consultant, business consultant, business analyst or requirements engineer.
  • Deep knowledge of system-based planning and reporting tools. Ideally this includes SAP BW, SAP BI-IP Planning, S/4HANA (SD/FI/COPA), SAC, Hyperion Financial Management or similar.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills, plus experience with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence and Workfront.
  • Skill with analytical tools and methods, and familiarity with data modelling, data preparation and visualisation tools.
  • Solid controlling or accounting background and a clear understanding of financial processes.
  • Ability to understand complex processes, spot risks and find solutions.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational and analytical skills, and the capacity to manage several projects and stakeholders at once.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team player who is self-motivated, goal-oriented and flexible, and who works well under pressure in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong grasp of finance planning processes, a real affinity for technical solutions, and a hands-on approach.
