Description

The role sits on the autonomous vehicle team and supports calibration work.

You will help the calibration team build, validate and run calibration and egomotion algorithms on vehicles.

You will also keep existing calibration methods maintained and ready for production, support first-level triage in the infrastructure, and monitor calibration performance across the fleet.

You will work with the company's OEM partners to bring existing and new calibration features up on prototype and pilot production vehicles.

The role targets people with skills in computer vision, calibration, egomotion, sensor fusion, and large, complex software on automotive and embedded platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Work on classical and deep learning methods to create new sensor calibration approaches for ADAS and improve existing ones.
  • Use large volumes of real and synthetic data to measure and raise the accuracy and compute efficiency of sensor calibration.
  • Design and optimize software architecture and frameworks so they perform in real conditions and meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Work with camera, LIDAR, radar, IMU, GPS, odometry and other sensor types.
  • Write unit tests and feature documentation, review quality, and propose fixes and corrective actions.
  • Write efficient production C++ that uses GPGPU parallelism through CUDA.
  • Build production code that meets strict quality and safety standards such as MISRA and AUTOSAR.
  • Build and maintain fleet monitoring tools for calibration across a large vehicle fleet.
  • Run in-vehicle tests, troubleshoot problems, analyze collected data, and complete drive missions.
  • Adapt and improve calibration algorithms for current and upcoming vehicle variants.

Requirements

  • PhD with 1+ years, MS with 3+ years, or BS (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years of relevant experience in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong Python and C++ skills.
  • Working knowledge of core algorithms in robotics, controls and estimation, and 3D computer vision.
  • Strong programming and debugging skills, particularly for automotive or robotics systems.
  • Clear communication and analytical skills, with the ability to give critical, constructive feedback in design and code reviews.
  • Comfortable working on local and remote Linux machines with git and build systems.
  • Self-driven and a good team member.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: experience with data-parallel or CUDA programming.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: experience with performance analysis, optimization and benchmarking.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: background in automotive systems, especially ADAS.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: deep experience with bazel, docker, VSCode plugins, and code analysis or quality-of-life tools.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd: a proven track record on calibration projects, including developing new calibration algorithms.
