Staff Front End Engineer

Description

The company is a science-led transatlantic TechBio. It combines large-scale genetic and health data with its own analytics to speed up drug discovery and support predictive, preventative healthcare.

Its AI-enabled genetic analytics platform helps drug developers find and build new treatments. Polygenic risk scores show people their personal risk of common chronic diseases, so doctors and health systems can steer the right people into prevention, screening and treatment programmes at the right moment.

The role is for a Staff Front End Engineer who will own the front end of the SaaS platform and shape how scientists, clinicians and partners work with large volumes of data. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work day to day with product, design and data teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the front end of the SaaS platform from design and delivery through to quality and performance.
• Build data visualisation components that remain fast and easy to use even when the underlying datasets are very large.
• Keep the platform responsive as data volumes and user numbers increase.
• Make sound technical decisions with limited supervision, weighing speed against long-term maintainability.
• Work with product managers, designers and data scientists to turn complex analytical output into clear user experiences.
• Raise front-end standards by sharing knowledge and supporting teammates.

Requirements

• Experienced front end engineer who has shipped complex products using TypeScript and React.
• Has worked on a platform that handles large datasets, with deep experience in data visualisation and front end performance.
• Comfortable owning large workstreams, flagging risks early and solving ambiguous problems without waiting for direction.
• Communicates clearly and can explain trade-offs to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Motivated by the mission of helping people live longer, healthier lives.
