Description

The role sits in the Semiconductor Business Unit, which offers solutions for pathfinding, yield learning and failure analysis of semiconductor processes and manufacturing. The unit's microscopy workflows capture data from micro-scale down to picometer-scale, combining electron, ion and light microscopy hardware and software with application knowledge of semiconductor technology.

The team supports leading semiconductor companies as they develop and characterize new products and processes with the company's microscopy tools. The applications group works between the product, account and customer teams.

The work covers supporting new product introductions so customers can use the technology in lab and fab for failure analysis, characterization and metrology; building applications and training so users get the full value and best results; and co-developing new processes as customer technologies change.

Standard Monday to Friday schedule. Cleanroom rules apply: follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards, with no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings or facial hair.

Responsibilities

  • Give hands-on technical support on site, mainly in Hillsboro, Oregon.
  • Find creative solutions to customer problems.
  • Support tool acceptance and new technologies at customer sites, working with the product and service teams.
  • Build good working relationships as the customer's technical partner, explaining the technology and helping develop applications.
  • Work closely with internal product, engineering, marketing and account teams on product acceptance and development.
  • Give the product teams detailed feedback on customer needs and how products perform in the field.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in physics, materials science, chemistry or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) equipment and applications.
  • Expert understanding of semiconductor processing, statistical process control, device physics and failure analysis techniques.
  • Coding or scripting experience in languages such as C, Python or MATLAB is a plus.
  • Clear, effective interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, productive customer relationships.
  • Strong problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% of the time, and a valid passport.

Conditions

Standard Monday to Friday schedule.

Based mainly in Hillsboro, Oregon, with on-site work at customer locations.

Travel of up to 25%, both domestic and international, with a valid passport required.

Cleanroom environment with GMP safety standards and the appearance rules listed in the description.
