Description

The real estate team is growing because client demand has risen, and it is recruiting Engineering Design Managers at both experienced and developing levels.

Design managers here are strategic thinkers and collaborators as well as technical leads. You will work directly with clients to make sure the finished work is fit for its purpose.

Your core aim is designs that can be built, meet regulations, and are innovative and efficient. You will lead design input on multi-disciplinary projects from first concepts through to completion.

Projects span rail, aviation, defence, real estate and highways, so you can broaden your experience. Clients are leading change in their industry.

  • Lead teams of engineers from consultants and partner firms to produce project solutions at the required design level.
  • Assess designs and solutions.
  • Work with technical, operational, maintenance and strategic stakeholders, as well as design coordinators.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of design and management experience.
  • Around 5 years managing design across the full project lifecycle.
  • A solid grasp of integrated design delivery and of managing consultant performance.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.
  • A degree, HNC or equivalent in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Strong practical knowledge of construction work types, methods and design solutions.
  • Experience with CAD, either AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to work well with both clients and staff.
  • Self-driven and results-focused, with a positive outlook.
  • Skills in people management, time management and design management.
  • A commitment to construction quality and customer satisfaction, with high standards.
  • Optional: experience in building fit-out, the defence industry and machine integration (preferable).
  • Optional: experience across a range of sectors and procurement routes (ideally).
