Senior Design Execution Project Manager

Description

The company is hiring a Senior Design Execution Project Manager to lead design work on hyperscale data center construction and other projects for a large technology client.

You act as the client's agent, consultant, advisor and authorised owner's representative across every design phase and discipline, up to handover to the client's construction team.

Most of the work involves managing, coordinating and administering the design consultants the client uses.

The role turns the program-level Plan of Record into a localised design.

The ideal candidate is comfortable running large design coordination meetings across several design disciplines, including page-turn design meetings.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate planning and kickoff workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
• Run design reviews together with external partners.
• Lead large-scale workshops when needed.
• Write scopes of work for contracts and secure internal stakeholder sign-off.
• Issue and manage contracts.
• Define deliverables for each party and track them.
• Monitor cost, schedule, progress and scope.
• Report on the health of cost, schedule, scope and progress.
• Assemble effective design teams from matrixed internal staff and strategically procured external partners.
• Manage change to project scope and design contracts.
• Make technical decisions that keep the project moving.
• Coordinate design work with procurement and construction.
• Communicate clearly and openly with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Make sure engineering information reaches the right party, at the right time, in the right format.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Professional licensure (PE, NCARB or RA) is strongly preferred, but more than 10 years of significant professional experience can be substituted.
• Experience with data center design or construction is preferred.
• Solid grasp of construction principles and practices.
• Experience preparing project plans and specifications.
• Experience drafting scopes of work.
• Experience with government regulations.
• Experience managing several projects at once.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required for drawing reviews and mark-ups.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of the role and must be followed where they apply.

Conditions

The role is remote, with travel to project sites in and around Atlanta, Charleston and Raleigh.

Expect to be at project sites about 30% of the time.
