This is a director-level role owning consumer marketing strategy for AutoTrader and AutoHebdo, two leading Canadian consumer brands. It is a hands-on, analytical, data-driven strategy role with a marketing focus, not an integrated campaigns or media planning role. You will report to the VP, Global Consumer Brand and Canada Consumer Marketing, lead a small Canada-based team and influence shared Performance and Analytics teams. You will work closely with the Canadian executive leadership team and with teams across the Autonex group.

Backgrounds from strategy consulting, consumer growth or marketing leadership are all welcome. What matters most is connecting data, consumer insight and commercial strategy to deliver measurable results.

Responsibilities

  • Own the consumer marketing growth agenda and manage a multi-million CA$ budget.
  • Set marketing priorities and drive growth across Performance Marketing, brand, social media and editorial content.
  • Use data and consumer insight to spot opportunities, make investment decisions and execute with teams in Canada and across the Autonex group.
  • Look beyond headline numbers to find growth drivers, regional and channel differences, and areas to improve.
  • Recommend monthly regional and channel spend changes based on business priorities, unit economics and performance data.
  • Influence the centrally managed Performance Marketing team, challenging campaign strategy and driving implementation.
  • Use consumer insight to shape messaging, content and partnerships across Québec and the rest of Canada.
  • Relaunch and scale social media marketing with a structured test-and-learn plan, clear objectives, measurement and resourcing through hiring and or agencies.
  • Build buy-in across functions by setting owners, timelines and success measures, and make decisions without waiting for perfect information.
  • Present performance drivers, investment choices and recommended actions to senior leaders in business reviews.
  • Set priorities for your direct team, build its capabilities, hire and manage agency performance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in data-driven strategy or transformation, such as strategy consulting, in-house marketing or consumer growth, including people management.
  • Strong hands-on analysis, with advanced Excel and basic SQL. You go beyond dashboards to investigate data yourself.
  • A proven record of solving analytical problems, including breaking down performance, finding root causes and turning findings into investment decisions.
  • Strong understanding of Performance Marketing, including campaign economics, measurement and investment effectiveness.
  • Good consumer intuition and brand judgment, with the ability to assess creative work, challenge agencies and improve marketing effectiveness.
  • An AI-forward approach, using AI tools daily and building simple agents to automate work and save time.
  • A record of decisive execution, influencing teams outside your reporting line and delivering measurable results.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, including developing people and presenting recommendations to senior marketing and non-marketing leaders.
