DevOps Engineer

Description

This intermediate level Applications Development Programmer Analyst role helps establish and roll out new or revised application systems and programs alongside the Technology team.

The overall goal is to support applications systems analysis and programming work.

The company is hiring a DevOps engineer for its innovation team to implement and maintain its Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platform.

You will own the CI/CD pipeline from end to end, the OpenShift deployment environments, and day-to-day operation of the team's IDP Studio.

The team wants a hands-on engineer with strong knowledge of current DevOps methods, container orchestration and observability, to keep a platform that uses Large Language Models (LLMs) for document processing reliable, scalable and secure.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using Harness, GitHub, Tekton and Lightspeed (LSE).
• Move code from commit to production quickly, with high quality and strong security.
• Run build, test and release work for every IDP platform component, including Python and React JS applications.
• Deploy and automate microservices and applications on OpenShift clusters.
• Set up and keep working blue-green, canary and rolling update strategies.
• Keep applications on OpenShift highly available, scalable and resilient.
• Author, version and release Helm charts for all platform services, and set standards that keep them reusable and easy to maintain.
• Manage the lifecycle of Helm charts in the Artifactory repository.
• Look after Postgres databases and manage schema changes with Liquibase.
• Keep the Kafka messaging backbone healthy, including topic creation, partitioning and access control.
• Tune and monitor consumer groups for performance and data throughput.
• Enforce a strict container governance policy and add Snyk or Checkmarx image scanning to the pipeline.
• Manage container images in Artifactory, covering promotion, retention and patching of base and application images.
• Design, build and run a full observability stack with Prometheus, Grafana and ELK or Splunk, including dashboards, alerts and logging.
• Find and resolve problems early through monitoring and root cause analysis.

Requirements

• At least 3 years in a DevOps, SRE or platform engineering role.
• Proven hands-on work with at least two of Harness, Tekton and Lightspeed (LSE), plus experience with Python and React JS build processes.
• Experience managing Postgres databases and migrating schemas with Liquibase.
• Expert knowledge of Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
• Demonstrable experience creating and managing complex Helm charts.
• Strong operational experience with Kafka, including administration and performance tuning.
• Experience with container security scanning tools such as Snyk or Checkmarx, and with repository management such as Artifactory.
• Proficiency setting up and managing monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack or Splunk.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• Preferred: direct experience building, supporting or working with platforms that use Generative AI and LLMs.
• Good to have: advanced Python for scripting, automation and backend services.
• Good to have: OpenShift or Kubernetes certifications, such as CKA, CKAD or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration.
• Good to have: experience in a highly regulated environment such as finance or government.

Conditions

Full-time position based in New Castle, Delaware, United States.

Base salary range is $84,580.00 to $118,020.00.
