Programme Manager, Cloud Services DevOps

The company works with major retailers, merchants, banks and third-party partners to design and roll out payment products across the world. The work is varied and quick-moving, and the team is focused on results.

This is a newly created role. You will help shape how the company runs its global cloud operations, overseeing cloud services and infrastructure transformation across the whole enterprise.

You will connect business strategy and financial planning with hands-on technical delivery, working with several engineering teams on delivery and governance. You will also improve the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and cloud hosting on AWS and Azure.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of complex cloud, infrastructure and automation programmes from start to finish.
• Set up solid project governance, track budgets, keep RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs and report progress to senior stakeholders.
• Coordinate onshore and offshore engineering teams by defining roles, workflows and delivery schedules.
• Connect software development, IT operations, finance, security and external clients so that they stay aligned.
• Oversee the running and growth of multi-cloud environments across AWS, Azure or a private cloud.
• Make sure infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automated deployment pipelines follow best practice, using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Build security standards (DevSecOps), compliance requirements and ITIL frameworks into every stage of delivery.
• Monitor platform reliability, uptime against SLAs, and logging and monitoring frameworks.

Requirements

• A proven record of running enterprise-scale cloud transformation or DevOps programmes.
• Experience delivering in Agile, Waterfall or hybrid models in quick-moving environments.
• Experience managing budgets and using tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira or MS Project.
• Experience working with third-party vendors.
• A deep conceptual or hands-on understanding of cloud architecture, including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and containerisation with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps.
• An awareness of infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide engineering teams through operational change.
