Systems Integration Engineer

Description

The company has more than 30 years in electronic payment technology and is one of the largest providers of electronic payment systems worldwide.

The company works with retailers, merchants, banks and third-party partners to build and deliver payment solutions globally. The team is fast-moving, results-driven and office-based, with colleagues physically co-located.

This role is hands-on and customer-facing. You will help customers bring the company payment solutions to life, from first implementation and validation through to troubleshooting and fixing issues, covering both device and non-device integrations.

The role suits someone who can both write code and talk to customers, works well with little supervision in an environment where much is learned on the job, and owns outcomes. You will also test new sample code, run light project management on smaller engagements, and use AI tools, including Claude, to work, document and deliver more effectively.

Responsibilities

• Guide customers through implementing and integrating the company payment solutions, for both device and non-device setups.
• Support customers during validation, troubleshoot technical problems, and escalate internally and raise tickets where needed.
• Set clear expectations with customers and communicate professionally at every stage of the integration.
• Travel to customer sites for roughly 10 to 15% of your time to support integrations and run hands-on training on integration methods.
• Test and assess new sample code and solutions as internal teams build them, and give practical feedback.
• Write and review Java and/or Kotlin code for customer integrations and internal tools.
• Build and validate integrations using REST APIs, and apply Android development experience where it helps.
• Use AI tools, mainly Claude, for programming, building skills and tools, producing documentation and speeding up workflows.
• Manage smaller integration projects that have no formal PMO, keeping timelines, stakeholders and deliverables on track.
• Send weekly project status updates for all active projects.
• Record issues, fixes and integration guidance clearly in Jira, Confluence and other tools to build a shared knowledge base.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience programming in Java and/or Kotlin. This is essential.
• Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as integration engineering, technical support or solutions engineering.
• Ability to work in a self-learning setting, take ownership of problems and drive them to resolution with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on REST API programming experience is a strong plus.
• Android device and Android Studio experience is a strong plus.
• Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Git and Postman is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of Swift,.NET or Python is a plus.
• Proven ability to use AI models in a technical setting. Experience with Claude is highly valued, along with using AI for coding, documentation and building tools and skills.
• Strong written communication, with the ability to document issues, resolutions and project status clearly and consistently.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites approximately 10 to 15% of the time.
