DevOps Engineer (m/f/d)

Description

The role sits in the Cloud and Infrastructure team and centres on building, automating and running CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure platforms that support the company's business-critical systems.

Your work will make software releases faster, more reliable and more secure, across both on-premises and cloud environments.

The role suits someone who likes removing manual work, works across development and operations, takes ownership of platform topics and helps spread DevOps practices between teams.

The company is a Swiss payments specialist and a subsidiary of a larger group, with about 120 staff at two Swiss sites. It offers invoice-based purchasing with instalment payments, credit checks, fraud prevention, invoicing and pre-financing for retailers, plus cash loans and payment cards for private customers. It works with nearly all major retailers in Switzerland.

Responsibilities

• Build, run and improve CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI, and work with development teams to speed up builds, tests and releases.
• Automate server provisioning and configuration with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and Packer, building towards cloud-ready environments.
• Run and develop containerised workloads on Kubernetes, and lead the move of services from virtual machines to containers as the company adopts the cloud.
• Improve observability and monitoring, for example with New Relic or an equivalent tool, and take part in incident response and on-call duty to keep the platform stable.
• Own security hardening, patching and vulnerability fixes across the infrastructure and the delivery pipeline.
• Define and maintain infrastructure standards, good practices and technical documentation.

Requirements

• A degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• At least 4 years of hands-on work in DevOps, platform or infrastructure engineering, including building and running production systems.
• Solid experience designing, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, for example with GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar tools.
• Proven experience running containerised workloads on Kubernetes and administering Linux environments.
• Strong experience with Ansible, plus experience with Terraform, Packer or similar tools.
• Experience running delivery platforms in production, including troubleshooting, incident handling and on-call support, and strong collaboration skills.
• Awareness of security, data protection and compliance concepts such as PII and GDPR.
• Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, payments or banking.
• Experience with container security scanning and artifact repositories, such as Sonatype Nexus.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms, such as New Relic, OpenTelemetry or Nagios/Centreon.
• Experience with Linux lifecycle management tools, such as Katello or Foreman, or with Kubernetes management platforms.
• Experience with identity and single sign-on solutions, such as Keycloak, OIDC or Entra ID.
