Description

The company runs enterprise network services across on-premises and cloud environments, and this senior role covers designing, building, securing and supporting them as both an engineering and operations lead.

Core networking skills come first, and you are also expected to push automation and use AI tools to make operations more efficient, consistent and scalable, especially for Palo Alto firewall configuration and deployment.

The company began in 1960 as a single store in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and is now a technology-led brand. 65% of its US sales come through digital channels, and it ranks among the top five companies for online transactions.

About 90% of local business owners in its network started out as delivery drivers or pizza makers in its stores.

The team works across network, cloud, security and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and manage Palo Alto NGFW infrastructure, covering policies, NAT, VPN and segmentation.
  • Keep configuration consistent across environments through centralized management in Panorama.
  • Lead firewall optimization, rule lifecycle work and security posture improvements.
  • Build automated firewall rule deployment, sometimes called push automation, using APIs, scripts or orchestration tools.
  • Reduce manual change work by creating standard templates and policy models.
  • Use AI-assisted workflows to find redundant or unused rules, suggest rule cleanup and optimization, and flag anomalies or misconfigurations.
  • Bring firewall automation into CI/CD-style pipelines where it fits.
  • Work with security teams so automation meets governance and audit requirements.
  • Deploy and support Meraki MX, MS and MR devices across distributed sites.
  • Standardize Meraki configurations so stores and branches roll out quickly.
  • Automate repetitive work such as config templating, provisioning and monitoring workflows.
  • Build AI monitoring that identifies and reports Meraki issues and helps remediate them.
  • Configure and support BGP, OSPF and EIGRP routing and enterprise switching.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, including packet-level analysis.
  • Help design resilient networks and failover strategies.
  • Design and manage Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, routing, NSGs and connectivity.
  • Set up hybrid ExpressRoute or VPN links between on-premises and cloud.
  • Keep network patterns aligned with secure cloud architecture principles.
  • Move the team from manual operations to automated, intelligent network management by removing repetitive tasks.
  • Build reusable automation for firewall changes, network provisioning and configuration, and monitoring and alerting.
  • Evaluate and adopt AI tools that improve troubleshooting, observability, predictive insight and decision-making.
  • Spread automation practice across the team through documentation, standards and mentoring.
  • Act as technical lead and escalation point across networking and security.
  • Mentor engineers on networking fundamentals and automation.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives across network, cloud, security and operations.
  • Shape roadmap decisions around scale, automation and efficiency.
  • Balance project delivery with operational health.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in enterprise network engineering across LAN, WAN, security and cloud.
  • Hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience (required).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routing using BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure networking.
  • Proven ability to work in a build and run environment split 50/50.
  • Experience building or using automation through scripting, APIs or infrastructure-as-code.
  • Preferred: you have automated Palo Alto work through Panorama APIs, scripts or orchestration.
  • Preferred: you know automation tools such as Python, Ansible or Terraform.
  • Preferred: you are familiar with AI/ML-driven operations tools or observability platforms.
  • Preferred: relevant certifications such as CCNP, Palo Alto or Azure networking.

The role is hybrid.

Applicant information is handled confidentially in line with EEO rules.

Benefits

  • Paid time off for holidays and vacation.
  • Medical, dental and vision cover starting on your first day.
  • No-cost mental health support for you and your dependents.
  • Discounts on childcare tuition.
  • No-cost fitness, nutrition and wellness programs.
  • Fertility benefits.
  • Adoption assistance.
  • 401k matching contributions.
  • 15% off the purchase price of stock.
  • Company bonus.
