Description

The company is a leader in identity security for cloud enterprises, protecting and enabling thousands of companies worldwide with full visibility into their digital workforce and the right access for each worker.

Its cloud identity platform uses AI and machine learning to give the right identities and resources the right access at the right time, at the scale modern cloud enterprises need. Its engineers work with the latest frontier models and agentic frameworks.

As a senior DevOps engineer on the Infrastructure Platform team, you will lead the design, build and running of the company's global identity cloud infrastructure on AWS, working with engineers in the US, India, EMEA and APAC.

The team builds the base cloud infrastructure, using microservices, event-driven design, Kubernetes, GitOps and infrastructure as code. It also runs the data platform and AI/ML tooling behind data pipelines, model serving and AI-driven product insights.

You will work with global peers on a follow-the-sun on-call model. The team runs all cloud infrastructure and compute for a 24x7 mission-critical SaaS service used by large enterprises, with a focus on security and modern practice at millions of concurrent requests.

First 30 days: onboard, learn the platform architecture, tooling and team processes, build relationships with US and global DevOps and SRE peers, start scoping the enterprise service mesh rollout, join team ceremonies and begin on-call shadowing.

First 60 days: join the on-call rotation and become proficient in core services, escalation paths and runbooks.

First 90 days: own major platform initiatives, shape architecture decisions and operational improvements, and deliver a prioritized service mesh scale and maturity roadmap covering observability gaps, security policy coverage and the onboarding backlog.

First 6 months: become a recognized SME on platform services, handle complex production escalations on your own, and influence roadmap and practices across the wider Infrastructure organization.

First 12 months: create lasting standards, guardrails and documentation that several teams adopt, and show sustained gains in uptime, deployment success rate, cost efficiency or engineering productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Design, run and tune production EKS clusters at scale, covering architecture, upgrades, node management, networking, storage and multi-tenant isolation.
  • Set Kubernetes standards for all teams, including workload design, resource management, hardening with RBAC, Pod Security Standards and network policies, Helm conventions and deployment patterns.
  • Work with engineers across teams on service mesh architecture, troubleshooting, performance tuning and capacity planning for mesh-heavy environments.
  • Scale infrastructure to keep up with fast-growing customer demand, data sovereignty rules and regional expansion.
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, incident response and capacity management with GitOps and CI/CD practices.
  • Build and improve operational practices, runbooks and platform engineering standards.
  • Help development teams move new features and services into production safely and efficiently.
  • Meet security and compliance standards such as PCI DSS by designing secure platforms, implementing controls and keeping systems audit ready, including for the company's PCI compliance initiative.
  • Take part in the on-call rotation, lead post-incident reviews and drive systemic fixes.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to set and enforce process and influence engineers across teams and regions.
  • Comfortable working in an agile, entrepreneurial setting with stakeholders around the world.
  • 4+ years designing, implementing and running a service mesh at scale in production Kubernetes environments.
  • 7+ years in 24x7 production operations for highly available SaaS or cloud services.
  • 7+ years working with containerization, virtualization and configuration management technologies.
  • 4+ years running Kubernetes in production at scale.
  • 4+ years with Terraform, managing infrastructure across multiple AWS accounts and regions.
  • 4+ years designing and building CI/CD pipelines, especially for Terraform, Kubernetes and microservices.
  • 4+ years of scripting or programming in Python, Go or similar, with strong shell scripting skills.
  • Solid understanding of Linux, networking, distributed systems and production troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience scaling a service mesh across a large microservices fleet, including phased adoption, sidecar resource management, control plane scaling and performance tuning under high request volume.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
  • Preferred: experience running multi-cluster or multi-region service mesh federation in production, such as Istio multi-cluster or the Linkerd multicluster extension.
  • Preferred: familiarity with compliance frameworks for regulated enterprise SaaS, including PCI DSS and FedRAMP-adjacent practices, with experience running platforms subject to PCI compliance requirements.
