Description

The company has an immediate opening for a Data Analyst or Data Scientist supporting United States Fleet Forces Command under a Navy logistics contract, working on site at NSA Hampton Roads.

You will connect Navy logistics operations with data-driven decisions by handling large amounts of structured and unstructured operational data, building dependable data pipelines, running exploratory analysis, and producing clear dashboards for senior leaders.

Much of the work is hands-on data manipulation in cloud and enterprise platforms, including Databricks and ADVANA, turning data into insights through enterprise visualization tools.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik Sense so military leadership can see operational and logistics status.
  • Convert complex military logistics and operational needs into working analytics products and measurable KPIs.
  • Clean, reshape, and organize complicated datasets with SQL and Python or PySpark to feed reporting and analytical models.
  • Build and refine ETL and ELT pipelines and data models in Databricks and cloud data repositories.
  • Ingest, transform, and combine data from multiple DoD sources across enterprise environments, using the War Data Platform (ADVANA).
  • Work with data engineers and operational stakeholders to keep data accurate, pipelines reliable, and data governance standards followed.

Requirements

  • Required: a current, active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Required: a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, operations research, statistics, mathematics, information systems, or a related technical field.
  • Required: at least five years of professional experience, on top of the degree, with proficiency in modern programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or R.
  • Required: ten years of industry data science experience may replace the degree requirement. This equivalency is in addition to the five-year experience minimum.
  • Required: hands-on experience building production dashboards and semantic models in Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, Shiny, or Streamlit.
  • Required: hands-on work in a modern cloud data platform such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or an equivalent, managing data workflows in cloud or enterprise environments.
  • Required: advanced SQL for complex joins, aggregations, and query performance tuning.
  • Required: Python or R for data wrangling, automation, and statistical analysis.
  • Desired: proven, direct experience using the DoD War Data Platform (ADVANA) for extraction, querying, and integration.
  • Desired: experience with Maven Smart System or Palantir Foundry, including Slates, Workshop, and Ontology workflows.
  • Desired: experience supporting Navy logistics or fleet readiness, or familiarity with Navy automated information systems such as DRRS, ERP, SABRS, or GCSS.
  • Desired: familiarity with data modeling such as star schema, snowflake schema, Kimball methodology, or Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).
  • Desired: certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Databricks Certified Associate, or AWS or Azure cloud certifications.
