The company designs, builds and assembles advanced systems for demanding industries, using an integrated engineering and manufacturing platform that turns complex designs into production-ready parts. It is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs and supports leading U.S. aerospace and defense companies.
This role owns the full machining workflow: process development, fixture and work-holding design, 5-axis CNC programming, machining, inspection and general shop tasks. You will support development and production work for automotive, aerospace and defense applications, and act as the machining technical expert on new concepts, including testing, validation and the patent process.
Responsibilities
Study new parts and set out machining strategies, tooling approaches and work-holding concepts, with design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback.
Use Siemens NX CAM to build, check and simulate 3+2 and 5-axis milling programs for first articles and production runs.
Write probing programs in MSP Perfect-Part for part location and on-machine verification.
Program trunnion and gantry CNC machines, including advanced 5-axis work.
Produce detailed setup sheets, operator instructions and tool lists so production handoffs run smoothly.
Read engineering drawings and apply GD&T to programming, machining and inspection.
Carry out advanced machining for additive manufacturing programs.
Design fixtures and work-holding for R&D and high-rate production in Siemens NX CAD, following established best practices.
Advise vehicle and component engineers on manufacturing issues and DFM during new product and program development.
Develop and put in place new machining, fabrication and work-holding methods, including those for additive manufacturing.
Test and validate new machining processes, then refine them based on results and manufacturing needs.
Help create new manufacturing technology and document it for the patent process.
Support first-article builds by hands-on setup, machining, inspection, troubleshooting and process refinement.
Use machining know-how to solve production problems and improve process capability, quality and efficiency.
Help with general shop work when needed and work with manufacturing and engineering to meet program goals.
Follow MES requirements, manufacturing processes, safety procedures and shop standards strictly.
