Senior Director, Application Engineering

Description

The role is Senior Director of Applications in the Performance Computing Power division. The company builds voltage regulators, which AI and high-performance compute now treat as a main limit on performance, efficiency, and total cost of ownership.

You will build and lead the organization that converts the company's silicon into design wins with the most demanding AI and compute customers. You own the technical relationship from the first architecture discussion through production ramp and represent the customer inside the NPI process.

This is mainly a build role. The global organization has to grow to match the opportunity, and you will create both the team and the processes that make customer engagement more efficient. Leadership and team-building skill are central to the job.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop talent yourself, as a top personal priority, growing the team to several times its current size to keep up with rising customer demand.
• Grow front-line managers and technical leads. Design the structure and operating rhythm that keep a fast, global team accountable and close to customers.
• Scale customer enablement with automation, design guides, simulation models, and other high-leverage tools.
• Own the reference design portfolio for AI and compute power delivery, with each design ready before the customer's window.
• Own technical escalations from start to finish, and feed field learning back into the roadmap.

Requirements

• A proven record of building and scaling technical teams through rapid growth, including managing managers and recruiting, developing, and keeping top engineering talent.
• Deep experience with datacenter and server power architectures, from rack and bus bar distribution through intermediate conversion to point of load.
• Experience leading technical work with hyperscale, OEM, ODM, or ASIC customers, with executive communication skills that earn trust from engineers and senior decision makers.
• Ability to align cross-functional groups without direct authority and make firm trade-offs when schedules are tight.
• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field plus 15+ years of relevant experience, or an MS or PhD plus 12+ years.
• Most of that experience should be in power electronics, power management semiconductors, or datacenter power delivery, including direct people leadership.
• Domestic and international travel to customer and company sites is required.
