Cloud Systems Engineer

Description

The company runs cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines for distinctive customers, and this role keeps that environment running, secure and efficient.

Engineers here take on operational and security problems and directly shape how reliable and resilient the systems are for those customers.

The role also covers Tier 3 support and automating routine admin work, while keeping cloud environments aligned with strict security standards.

Responsibilities

• Give Tier 3 support and hands-on technical help for cloud systems and their infrastructure.
• Apply monthly patches and urgent patches, focusing on IAVA and KEV vulnerabilities.
• Lead remediation of vulnerabilities across cloud environments and supply timely, accurate input to POA&Ms.
• Keep systems in line with STIG requirements and build, deploy and manage hardened system images.
• Script routine maintenance and speed up system and user onboarding.
• Build and secure GitLab CI/CD pipelines that handle patching and configuration management.
• Work with development and security teams so patches land without interrupting live services.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in cloud operations, cloud engineering or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience running and managing infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience building, running and using GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to handle Tier 3 support, troubleshoot systems and perform root cause analysis.
• Experience applying security fixes, patching for IAVA and KEV, and managing POA&Ms.
• Solid grasp of STIG compliance and experience working with hardened machine images.
• Experience writing scripts that automate routine system maintenance and admin tasks.
• US citizenship and an active Top Secret security clearance.
• Desired: familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation to support pipeline automation.
• Desired: familiarity with scripting or programming languages such as Python or Bash to strengthen automation.
• Desired: advanced AWS certifications such as SysOps Administrator or DevOps Engineer.
• Desired: a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.

Conditions

Salary range is $90,000.00 - $150,000.00, depending on experience and technical skills.

Direct, full-time W2 employment only. The company does not work with staffing agencies, C2C or 1099 contractors for this role.
