IT Systems Engineer

Description

This team gives engineering and operations support to the company's internal IT organization, keeping employee-facing systems, identity workflows and enterprise apps reliable and governed as the company grows.

The Enterprise Platforms pod runs the SaaS tools staff use to communicate and manage work, covering administration, configuration, integrations, operational controls and difficult escalations. It works with IT Support, Systems Engineering, Identity & Access Foundations, Security and business teams across Google Workspace, GCP, Slack, Atlassian service tools, the company's enterprise AI chat product and other enterprise apps.

The IT Systems Engineer role centers on integrations, tooling and automation for platforms such as Google Workspace, GCP and Slack. The aim is to cut repeated manual admin work and build reusable capability for user migrations, M&A integrations and wider platform projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage platform configuration as code with Terraform, writing reusable modules, importing existing resources, and detecting and fixing drift. Use APIs and scripts for settings the provider does not cover.
• Build and run integrations across enterprise apps and cloud services, owning data flows, API access, OAuth clients, service accounts, error handling and monitoring. Work with cloud and security owners on setup, permissions, credentials and handoffs.
• Create and improve integrations and Jira or service-management workflows for IT, Security and business teams, turning operational needs into maintainable routing, approvals and automation.
• Build administration for the company's enterprise AI chat workspace using APIs and infrastructure as code. Test admin features and give product teams feedback from real operational use.
• Develop reusable internal tools and automation, including self-service flows, admin utilities and cross-app processes for routine work and user migrations. Use code, APIs, infrastructure as code and AI or agent workflows with tests, error handling, logging, documentation and clear limits on privileged actions.
• Put agreed platform controls in place and report gaps. Check access, sharing, integration and logging behavior, keep configuration and test evidence, and document exception requests for security and policy owners.
• Test changes through full employee workflows. Plan rollouts with monitoring and rollback, set support ownership, and track reliability, manual effort saved and repeat escalations.
• Take part in the on-call rotation, handling end-user escalations, troubleshooting issues and coordinating fixes with the right teams.

Requirements

• Have engineered enterprise platforms at scale, combining hands-on configuration, permissions and troubleshooting with app integrations, API automation and tools used by staff or IT.
• Have used AI, agents or agentic automation to improve workflows, apps and processes, with attention to permissions, reliability and verification.
• Can troubleshoot across apps, identity, permissions, provisioning, networking and APIs, using evidence to isolate faults and restore service.
• Have strong hands-on Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience, including reusable modules, state management, resource imports, plan review, and automated validation and deployment. Write maintainable code and use APIs to extend automation across apps.
• Have owned complex systems improvements within a team while carrying operational duties. Can prioritize incidents and escalations, communicate clearly and keep service running.
• Understand GCP basics relevant to enterprise apps, including OAuth clients, service accounts, IAM, secrets and audit logging, and can explain tradeoffs to engineering and security specialists.
• Helpful: Jira Service Management or Atlassian workflow engineering, automation and integrations.
• Helpful: administration of the company's enterprise AI chat product, administrative APIs or Terraform providers, or operational experience with tools such as Notion and Linear.
• Helpful: implementing and testing collaboration controls, producing audit evidence, and improving platform configuration or monitoring at scale.
