Business Intelligence Analyst

This role turns data into insight that drives business value, using analytics, visualization and data modelling.

The analyst also builds the systems and tools used to record, organize, store, secure and access data.

You are a seasoned subject matter expert, with proven technical skill in visual analytics, dashboards and ad hoc reports for the business.

Responsibilities

• Break down complex business problems using internal and external data, and give decision-makers the findings.
• Build forecasts, recommendations and strategic and tactical plans from business data and market knowledge.
• Write specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and the data available.
• Help define, build, improve and track metrics and dashboard requirements, and advise on trends.
• Work across teams to make sure analytics are valid, meaningful and lead to actionable insight.
• Analyze data from many platforms, including social media, and report on trends and patterns.
• Design and maintain business intelligence reports and analytics.
• Pull and analyze data, statistics and information from many sources, then write reports, summaries and briefing notes for business decisions.
• Turn needs from internal stakeholders into data reports, insights and extracts.
• Make visual information easier to read and metrics easier to act on.
• Keep processes that check data accuracy, currency and representation.
• Review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations for proposed solutions.
• Make sure the client gets the support needed to put recommendations and solutions into practice.

Requirements

• Solid grasp of data mining, predictive analytics and mapping, and of collecting data from on-premises and cloud-based sources.
• Careful and accurate when collecting, organizing, analyzing and sharing large volumes of information.
• Able to find solutions in large, tangled data sets and turn insight into strategic opportunities with a business mindset.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and across teams, building sound working relationships.
• Strong understanding of current data protection and privacy laws.
• Driven by results and statistics.
• Technical depth and knowledge of statistical concepts.
• Able to spot trends and business opportunities.
• Well aware of critical business issues and priorities.
• Programming skills in query languages such as SQL and SAS.
• Good understanding of statistical analysis and reporting packages.
• Preferred: a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or another quantitative field.
• Required: seasoned experience in an analytics role.
• Required: seasoned experience with data collection tools and software.
• Required: seasoned experience with social media platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
• Required: seasoned experience producing Excel-based reports.
