Kubernetes/Container Architect (m/w/d) – Winterthur Area

The team needs a senior Kubernetes and container architect to set technical direction for container platform architecture.

You will shape enterprise container platforms so they stay secure, scalable and resilient, and fit the wider infrastructure and cloud architecture standards.

You act as a senior technical authority, helping with complex escalations and setting best practices across the platform landscape.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and govern Kubernetes cluster architectures and container platform standards.
• Set out and maintain highly available, resilient Kubernetes control-plane architectures.
• Make architecture decisions on service mesh, storage, networking, security and platform scalability.
• Create operating patterns, governance frameworks and best practices for containerised environments.
• Lead the handling of complex incidents, escalations and platform problems.
• Make sure security, compliance, reliability and performance targets are consistently met.
• Work with infrastructure, cloud, networking, storage and security teams to match container platforms to enterprise architecture goals.
• Lead continuous improvement and help adopt new cloud-native technologies.
• Write and keep up architecture documentation, standards and operational guidance.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and running enterprise Kubernetes and container platforms.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, container orchestration, platform security, networking and storage integration.
• Experience designing for high availability, disaster recovery, scalability and resilience.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native technologies, service meshes, observability and platform governance.
• A proven record of supporting complex technical escalations and giving architectural leadership.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• German at B2 level or higher is mandatory, so you can join technical discussions, architecture reviews, incident coordination, service reviews, change management and daily talks with German-speaking stakeholders, customers and operations teams.
• Applicants must hold Swiss citizenship.
• Preferred: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
• Preferred: Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
• Preferred: cloud-native architecture certifications focused on Kubernetes design, resilience and security.
• Advantageous: further security, network, storage or compute infrastructure certifications.

Conditions

Location is the Winterthur area, Switzerland.

You should live in or be regularly available in the Winterthur region to support customers, align with operations, coordinate with onsite and remote-hands teams, and join architecture, governance, escalation and service review meetings as required.
