Description

As an Azure Solution Architect, you will work closely with the Project Manager, clients and technical delivery teams to translate business objectives into technical solutions, define project scope and develop detailed architectural designs.

You will take ownership of the technical architecture, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned with business and technical requirements.

You will be responsible for leading client workshops, defining Azure cloud strategies, producing technical design documentation and overseeing the delivery of complex cloud migration and infrastructure transformation projects.

The role requires demonstrable experience in Azure architecture, infrastructure engineering and cloud migration, ideally within a complex, multi-disciplinary and multi-supplier environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior technical authority for Azure-focused projects and programmes, providing architectural direction and technical leadership.
  • Lead client workshops to understand business requirements, identify technical challenges and develop appropriate Azure-based solutions.
  • Design and implement Azure cloud architectures, covering IaaS, PaaS, networking, security, identity and infrastructure services.
  • Produce end-to-end technical architecture and design documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs) and migration strategies.
  • Define current and target-state architectures, develop cloud migration approaches and break down technical requirements into deliverable tasks for engineering teams.
  • Lead cloud migration and infrastructure transformation activities, ensuring solutions meet performance, security, availability and scalability requirements.
  • Design holistic service solutions that consider not only technology but also service support, operational management, maintenance and ongoing service delivery.
  • Provide technical coordination across multiple engineering and delivery teams, ensuring clear ownership, responsibilities and alignment.
  • Work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Senior Management and Service Acceptance teams to ensure architectural governance and compliance.
  • Support the full project lifecycle, from initial discovery and architecture through implementation, transition and decommissioning.
  • Work within different delivery methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, ensuring successful delivery against agreed timelines and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Strong and demonstrable experience working as a Solution Architect or Cloud Architect, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Extensive experience designing and delivering Azure cloud solutions, including complex cloud migration and infrastructure transformation projects.
  • Strong understanding of Azure architecture principles, best practices and the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure infrastructure and platform services, including IaaS, PaaS, networking, storage and compute.
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure engineering, with a strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience designing and delivering secure, scalable and resilient cloud architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure networking, identity and access management, security and monitoring.
  • Experience working within multi-vendor and multi-supplier environments, coordinating technical delivery across different teams.
  • Experience working closely with application development and infrastructure engineering teams to establish and support cloud platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and client workshops.
