Automotive E/E System and Software architect

The company supplies processing, networking and power management products to the automotive market. It aims to grow faster there by anticipating customer needs and offering complete system solutions.

The car industry is changing quickly, with many innovations under way at once across every domain as advanced technologies are adopted.

This brings large openings for customers, but also heavy demands on their people and resources. Software, functional safety and security are the three most complex areas.

To speed the shift to the software-defined vehicle and engage automotive OEMs early, the company is building system and software expertise in E/E architecture and SDV.

The role sits in a new automotive system and platform architecture group. The team builds system and software expertise and works with OEM advanced engineering teams on sub-systems where the company has deep knowledge in processing, networking, power management, security and safety.

The focus is next-generation architecture trends and the system and software definition and execution of the CoreRide platform.

Responsibilities

• Use architecture and software engineering tools to assess trade-offs and how company products affect them, such as network topology, functional safety, wake-up times, communication latency, security, and power distribution and management.
• Prototype on different archetypes to analyse and compare partitioning options and key performance indicators for power and performance.
• Work with the company's engineering and architecture teams on exploration, analysis and execution.
• Define system and software architecture for CoreRide platforms across central and zonal archetypes.
• Write system and software architecture specifications and support execution teams, keeping feedback loops tight so decisions converge quickly.

Requirements

• Experience defining and developing system and software architecture.
• Knowledge of vehicle functions and software platforms from drivers to middleware, including trade-offs and key performance metrics of an automotive platform.
• Strong software architecture skills to define frameworks and components, with an understanding of interdependencies across the ECU or the whole vehicle.
• 8+ years of experience in the automotive market.
• Track record of engagement with automotive Tier 1 suppliers and/or OEMs.
• Experience with hardware, software and system solutions that enable car architecture evolution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills.
