Automation Engineer

Description

The company supports large-scale papermaking equipment at customer sites across North America as part of its Engineering Services team.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain machine code in PLC or DCS systems, and build the Human Machine Interface (HMI) software, so equipment performs to specification.
• Test software changes as far as possible before shipment (shop test).
• Take part in or lead start-up work at customer sites, including checking electrical, PLC and HMI components.
• Commission equipment until it meets specification.
• Train customer operators and/or maintenance staff on technical topics when needed.
• Return to sites to fix warranty issues or meet other customer needs.

Requirements

• A two-year or four-year degree in engineering, papermaking technology, programming or a related field, with three to five years in a technical role in papermaking or a related technical field. Equivalent combined education and experience is accepted.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming, including Rockwell software.
• Knowledge of papermaking machinery and hydraulic systems is preferred but not required.
