Agile Coach/Lead Scrum Master

Description

Lead Scrum Master role based in New Malden, with hybrid working.

The post sits within the UK defence business, a sovereign centre for software and systems that builds and supports multi-domain command and control systems used across the UK and abroad, and is central to core Royal Navy systems.

You would work on national defence programmes in an agile setting and be accountable for how effectively your teams work, mainly by coaching, mentoring and facilitating.

Responsibilities

• Act as a servant-leader and facilitator, helping teams run lean-agile practices day to day, and advise and assure across several teams.
• Lead team-of-teams events such as planning interval planning and continuous improvement workshops, and help develop roadmaps so objectives are met.
• Help teams spot and clear obstacles to their goals, acting yourself where that is appropriate.
• Help teams identify and track metrics and data to inform decisions.
• Coach, mentor and train teams and individuals to improve performance and reach goals.
• Support change initiatives and continuous improvement across the organisation, with a lean-agile focus.
• Build up and develop a group of Scrum Masters and team coaches.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience as a servant-leader in agile teams.
• Experience in a defence or engineering environment.
• Thorough understanding of lean-agile principles, practices and methods.
• Strong organisational and facilitation skills.
• Comfortable using Jira or similar tools, including for data analysis.
• Agile coaching experience, or one of these qualifications: ICP-ATF, ICP-ACC or ICE-AC.
• Experience of, and/or certification in, an agile-at-scale framework such as SAFe, LeSS or Nexus.

Conditions

UK citizenship is required.

Security clearance: SC (or eligible).

You must be able to obtain and keep the relevant UK Government security clearance for the role (SC), and the recruitment team can guide you through the process.

Hybrid working, based in New Malden.

Travel is 10% of the time.
