Portfolio Delivery Manager

Description

Hybrid role in Bristol, requiring at least 3 days a week on site. Full time, permanent, senior management position.

The role sits in the Digital & IT Technology team and supports growing demand for large, transformational IT change across the Defence portfolio. You will report to the VP of Strategic Projects.

The company is a global business, and this role is part of its effort to deliver significant IT change.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage delivery of several projects and programmes so they meet scope, timing, budget and quality goals through planning and control.
• Plan, mobilise and deliver complex programmes in difficult technical and business settings, using suitable standards, methods and tools.
• Lead distributed teams made up of in-house staff, outsourced staff and supplier resources, across a global business.
• Prepare detailed financial and project or programme status reports for senior management.
• Take in complex information and explain it clearly to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
• Resolve conflict and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, including sharing and discussing technical data with them.
• Adjust to priorities that keep shifting.

Requirements

• Experience planning, mobilising and delivering complex portfolios or programmes in challenging technical and business environments, with a strong focus on commercial management and reporting.
• Knowledge of portfolio and major programme delivery, with change delivered through a range of suitable methodologies.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, including programme governance, line management, financial and programme planning, and senior stakeholder management.
• Portfolio or programme leadership (preferred).
• Presenting programme data to senior leadership (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy (preferred).
• Handling escalations and conflict with senior stakeholders, both internal and with suppliers or vendors (preferred).

Conditions

Full time, permanent senior management role.

Hybrid working in Bristol, with at least 3 days a week on site.

Reports to the VP of Strategic Projects.

The role is advertised at the grades shown, which is the desired operating level, though candidates with relevant experience at any grade are welcome. Expected level is B, depending on skills and experience.

Priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk.
