Engineering Software and Analysis Intern

Description

This internship is a campus role with the company's Mission Systems sector in Sunnyvale, CA, within the Marine Systems business unit.

The company supplies mission-enabling systems for global security, including battle management and cyber solutions across multiple domains.

No travel is required and no relocation assistance is offered.

You do not need an active security clearance to start, but the role's clearance type is Secret.

Requirements

• Be a full-time student in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program who will still be enrolled full-time in Fall 2027.
• Major in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a dual major or combined degree pairing an engineering discipline with Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related STEM field.
• Be available to work 40 hours per week for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
• Be a U.S. citizen, and be able to obtain and keep a U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special access within a timeframe the company sets based on its business needs.
• Have a solid grounding in engineering principles, applied mathematics, physics, and numerical methods.
• Have practical Python skills, including writing scripts, running calculations, and analyzing engineering data.
• Have working knowledge of statistical methods and how to apply them to engineering analysis and experimental data.
• Show strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Be able to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Preferred: cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher.
• Preferred: hands-on experience in Linux environments.
• Preferred: experience with engineering data analysis, signal processing, or data acquisition systems.
• Preferred: familiarity with numerical modeling, simulation, and computational methods.
• Preferred: experience with Git or other software version control systems.
• Preferred: experience with MATLAB.
• Preferred: experience building software tools for data processing or visualization.

Conditions

Internship, listed as a campus job, with full-time hours of 40 per week for at least 10 weeks in summer 2027.

Based at the Sunnyvale, CA location, with no travel and no relocation assistance.

Intern pay is $21.50 to $39.00 per hour for bachelor's students and $30.50 to $48.00 per hour for master's students.

Intern pay rates are standardized using the expected graduation date, the local cost of labor, and whether the internship is technical or administrative.

The primary level salary range is $1.00 to $1.00, which is a general guideline; the actual base offer depends on the scope of the role, the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
