Description

The company is opening a new connectivity design hub in Manching, and the team there is being built from the start.

The role is for a senior comms engineer, architect or lead who is comfortable in a brand new setting. You would be based in the new Manching design office.

You would own end-to-end work on connectivity systems, from first concept through final qualification. These include tactical datalinks such as L-16 and others, comms managers, IFDL, IVDL, and CCA C2 links.

The systems serve air power products including fighters, FCAS, CCAs, MuT and A400M.

The role combines the established connectivity expertise of the domain with new programs starting in Manching. The team reports directly to the HO Domain and offers a clear development path.

Manching is a market town about an hour north of Munich, with leisure and cultural activities and countryside living, while nearby cities remain easy to reach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical work on specific programs.
  • Define and design the connectivity architecture.
  • Support customer meetings, mainly in German, and help generate top-level requirements.
  • Align the work with the domain connectivity strategy, taking national program requirements into account.
  • Select suppliers and produce and analyse RFPs and RFIs together with procurement.
  • Define and validate L1, L2 and L3 requirements.
  • Support the definition of interfaces with connecting systems and equipment.
  • Make sure requirements are traceable and fully covered.
  • Support L2 and L3 system testing.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in communications, aerospace or software engineering, or comparable studies.
  • Have at least 9 years of professional experience.
  • Bring senior expertise in connectivity systems such as Satcom.
  • Bring senior expertise in system design and development.
  • Show proven experience in systems engineering or connectivity, tactical datalinks, Satcom and architecture definition.
  • Take ownership of integration and design work, and keep an eye on future needs through innovation and R&T.
  • Work well in a team and collaborate strongly with others.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Be aware of possible compliance risks and act with integrity.

Conditions

Permanent position at the Manching site, professional level, within the sub-system development job family.

30 days of annual leave under the collective agreement, based on a 35-hour week.

Flexible hours (flextime), mobile working, part-time options, job sharing and sabbaticals are available.

The company never asks for payment during recruitment.

Applicants are considered regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religion.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay and individual extras, such as company pension schemes, mobility offers like bike leasing, and corporate discounts under current guidelines.
  • Good professional development and international, group-wide career options.
  • An on-site company doctor, health programs such as sports courses and preventive care, a canteen and cafeteria, and childcare at selected locations.
  • A diverse workplace with more than 140 nationalities.
  • Not a 100% match is fine: the company supports growth with tailored development.
