Description

At Neighbor, we’re building the largest hyperlocal marketplace the world has ever seen. We’ve raised over $75 million from top-tier investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and the CEOs of DoorDash, StockX, and Uber. Our marketplace is already flourishing in all 50 states and we’re just getting started!

About the Role

Neighbor is a two-sided marketplace for self storage and vehicle storage. Hosts list everything from garages and driveways to RV pads and commercial facility units, and renters compare options, book, and manage reservations through Neighbor’s website and apps.

You’ll report directly to a Co-Founder and our VP of Product & Design, and you’ll set the bar for design craft across the company. That means mentoring Neighbor’s other designers, shaping product direction with PMs and engineers from the first sketch, and making sure real renter insight reaches every team. Renters on Neighbor compare everything from storage facility units to neighborhood garages and RV pads. Helping them choose with confidence is a hard design problem, and solving it moves the business directly.

This role is based in our Lehi, Utah office, in person Tuesday through Friday, with the option to work from home on Mondays.

Primary Responsibilities

Own end-to-end design across iOS, Android, and responsive web, from problem framing through ship and measurement

Run renter and host research (interviews, usability tests, session and funnel reviews) and turn it into recommendations the team acts on

Study how competitors and adjacent marketplaces solve similar problems, and design to differentiate rather than imitate

Co-define success metrics with PM and Eng, design experiments, and iterate on what the data shows

Align early with wireframes and prototypes (including AI and code-assisted) so ideas get in front of users in days, not weeks

Design trust and clarity into every surface: pricing, photos, reviews, access details, and host and renter information

Cover the full journey: every state, edge case, and platform convention, so defects rarely reach production

Evolve the Neighbor design and brand system so every surface feels like one product

Mentor Neighbor’s designers through critique, pairing, and hands-on feedback

Requirements

  • Required

  • Expert in Figma, and you use AI tools regularly for research, exploration, and prototyping
  • A clear writer and presenter who can defend a decision to a co-founder or an engineer
  • You own outcomes, not just tasks, and you actively seek hard feedback and act on it
  • Able to work in our Lehi, Utah office Tuesday through Friday (remote work isn’t an option for this role)
  • Preferred
  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces, e-commerce, or travel and booking products
  • Has mentored designers or led design for a team
