Description

The company builds advanced software products for the energy sector, and this role sits in the User Experience practice supporting that work. The team works on complex power-automation engineering environments and shapes product direction through evidence gathered from users.

You will start by learning an end-to-end design approach, moving from business goals and user needs through workflow mapping, prototyping, testing and refinement. Early on you work under guidance, then gradually take ownership of UX tasks with a clear scope while building skills in research, interaction design, visual design and communication.

You will work alongside experienced designers and partner with product, engineering and delivery colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Support UX research and design work across the full design thinking cycle.
  • Work with designers, product managers, product owners, engineers and domain experts to clarify business goals, user needs, scope and limits.
  • Read product documents, backlog items, current designs, issue reports, training material and technical records.
  • Help prepare interviews, usability tests, interview guides and research materials for stakeholders and users.
  • Take part in interviews, workshops and usability sessions, supported by more senior team members.
  • Organise and synthesise findings, separating evidence from assumptions, opinions and technical constraints.
  • Contribute to user archetypes, jobs-to-be-done, journey maps, use cases and problem statements.
  • Map user flows and scoped workflows, covering key steps, decisions, dependencies, handovers and error cases.
  • Generate concepts and turn requirements into wireframes, prototypes and interface designs.
  • Refine designs using research results, usability feedback, design reviews and technical input.
  • Apply existing design-system components, UX methods, accessibility principles and interface design practice.
  • Record design decisions and present your work clearly to UX, product and engineering stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned tasks dependably, report progress and risks, and ask for help when you need it.
  • Keep building your knowledge of UX methods, tools, the energy domain and complex engineering software.

Requirements

  • Up to 2 years of professional experience in UX/UI, product design or relevant project work. Strong graduate, internship, freelance or academic work also counts.
  • A portfolio that shows your design process, how you solve problems, and your contribution to at least one digital product or service.
  • Basic understanding of user-centred design, interaction design, information architecture, usability and visual hierarchy.
  • Some practical experience with user research, workflow or journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to spot patterns and turn findings into clear design decisions.
  • Genuine interest in complex fields and a drive to understand technical workflows, user roles and constraints.
  • Openness to feedback, a willingness to learn, and the ability to revise your work.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and dependability in delivering tasks.
  • Ability to work well across functions and internationally.
  • Professional English for meetings, workshops and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of common UX design and prototyping tools.
  • Preferred: a bachelor's degree in design, HCI, computer science, information sciences or a related field.
  • Preferred: experience with enterprise software, industrial automation, energy, utilities, engineering tools, or products that combine software and physical devices.
