Description

Technical Business Systems Analysts sit between business and technical stakeholders to shape complex solutions and make sure what gets delivered solves a real business problem.

The work covers the company's client projects, from custom digital products to large integration, modernization, and enterprise transformation programs that span several systems, technologies, and business lines.

The role suits someone who is comfortable working where business and technology meet, handles unclear problems well, and approaches problems the way a consultant would.

You will translate business goals into technical requirements, work closely with architects and engineers, and help teams manage complicated systems, integrations, and data.

You will be involved from start to finish of delivery, helping teams go from an unclear problem to a solution that is well designed, scalable, and easy to maintain.

The company is a consulting firm whose clients include Fortune 100 companies, mid-sized enterprises, and government agencies across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Learn quickly about each client's business challenges, processes, and technology so you can advise them and act as a subject-matter partner.
  • Take an active part on cross-functional teams across every stage of the system delivery lifecycle, from discovery through delivery and validation.
  • Help gather requirements through interviews, workshops, and working sessions, and clarify what the solution is meant to do.
  • Turn business objectives into detailed functional and technical requirements that guide architecture, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Work with architects, engineers, and product teams on solution design, including data models, API and integration requirements, interface definitions, and system workflows.
  • Analyze data to understand current structures, data quality, and business impact, and help define how data will support future solutions.
  • Document data mappings, business rules, system interactions, and upstream and downstream dependencies for complex integrations.
  • Make sure solutions are valuable, usable, scalable, and maintainable by connecting business and technical views.
  • Review current processes and systems, define the desired future state with stakeholders, and run gap analysis to recommend solution options.
  • Write and refine epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items as part of an Agile team.
  • Coordinate and support integration, system, and user acceptance testing, including requirements traceability and validation.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, assumptions, and impacts across business processes, systems, and integrations.
  • Communicate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executives, adjusting your message for each audience.

Requirements

  • Required: 3-10+ years working as a Business Systems Analyst, Technical Architect, or in a similar role on IT initiatives and enterprise-scale solution delivery.
  • Required: Consulting experience, or a proven ability to work in a client-facing advisory role.
  • Required: Hands-on experience with multi-system implementations, enterprise applications, and complex integrations.
  • Required: Experience working alongside software development teams across the full software delivery lifecycle.
  • Required: Experience building process flows, data flows, sequence diagrams, system context diagrams, or other visual models that explain business and technical solutions.
  • Required: Experience defining business rules, writing user stories, developing acceptance criteria, and managing requirements in Agile settings.
  • Required: Solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, data flows, and modern cloud-based architectures.
  • Required: Ability to write and run SQL queries for analysis, troubleshooting, validation, and testing.
  • Required: Experience with data analysis, data mapping, and requirements traceability across multiple systems.
  • Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical people.
  • Required: Working knowledge of delivery and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting digital product development and product-centric delivery models.
  • Preferred: Experience in regulated industries such as energy, utilities, infrastructure, financial services, healthcare, or the public sector.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Salesforce, or other enterprise business platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting cloud modernization, application modernization, or enterprise transformation work.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with system architecture concepts, object-oriented design, or software engineering practices.
  • Preferred: Certifications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Scrum, Product Owner, CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar.
