Description

The company builds endovascular robotic systems for minimally invasive procedures, and this role leads the Intelligence Logic team behind them.

The team covers real-time image analytics for device navigation and computer vision, plus workflow orchestration that models, predicts and automates (neuro)endovascular procedures.

The company is a medical technology group with more than 72,000 employees in over 70 countries.

The team works in an international setting, with a culture that values diverse backgrounds and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor software developers working on computer vision and AI imaging as well as on workflow orchestration, and set the technical direction for both.
  • Shape the technical roadmap for AI-driven image analytics, sensor fusion and localization, and the workflow engines that coordinate imaging and robotics in the interventional suite.
  • Work closely with development teams in Germany.
  • Oversee deep learning work for real-time image analysis, including segmentation, registration, and object detection and tracking, along with state machines and digital models of (neurovascular) procedures.
  • Work with computer vision, robotics, clinical and hardware experts to orchestrate clinical workflows safely, including failure detection and uncertainty estimation.
  • Manage team priorities, sprint planning and delivery milestones, remove blockers, and make sure the team applies DevOps and MLOps practices across the full lifecycle of software and machine learning models.
  • Work with multi-modal data from minimally invasive therapies, including x-ray fluoroscopy, digital subtraction angiography, (cone-beam) computed tomography, robotic data and endovascular device shape sensing.
  • Work within an interdisciplinary regulated medical device environment.

Requirements

  • Hold a Master's degree and have 6+ years of experience in biomedical engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, robotics or a related field. A PhD is strongly preferred.
  • Have led or mentored engineers or software developers, such as in a technical lead, team lead or similar people-management role within a software or R&D organization.
  • Have a strong background in computer vision and medical image analysis, including segmentation, registration, and object detection and tracking.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of state-of-the-art deep learning methods.
  • Have a strong grasp of robotics concepts such as state estimation and sensor fusion, and working knowledge of control theory, including model predictive control.
  • Have experience building machine learning models in modern frameworks such as PyTorch, and with MLOps across the whole model lifecycle.
  • Have experience programming in Python and C++/CUDA, and software engineering under DevOps best practices.
  • Publications in top-tier venues such as IEEE TMI, CVPR, ICCV/ECCV, MICCAI or comparable are a plus.
  • Have a very good command of written and spoken English for working in an international environment.
  • Lead, coach and communicate strongly, motivating a technically diverse team around shared goals.
  • Bring creative ideas to develop the solutions further in image-guided automation.
  • Show strong organization, communication, initiative and curiosity to learn.
