The team sits within the risk intelligence group and focuses on digital identity and fraud. This is a senior, hands-on role where you own the technical direction for a key product, platform or engineering area.
You will work across architecture, coding and delivery leadership alongside developers, architects, product owners and quality leads. The systems you help build are secure, scalable, resilient and cloud-native, supporting fraud prevention, identity checks and account validation.
You will work at both strategic and detailed levels: shaping architecture, steering design choices, splitting large initiatives into workable pieces, coaching engineers, and improving standards and reuse. You will still be in the code, reviewing designs, solving problems and supporting delivery.
The company is a global provider of financial markets infrastructure and data, with about 25,000 staff across 65 countries.
Responsibilities
Set technical direction and deliver outcomes for a defined DI&F product, platform or capability, keeping it aligned with business goals, platform strategy and engineering standards.
Build high-performance APIs and distributed platform services for fraud prevention, identity verification and account validation.
Guide solutions hands-on through design, architecture advice, code review, prototyping, issue fixing and implementation support across the full lifecycle.
Lead the design and evolution of microservices-based distributed systems built cloud-native.
With architects, product owners and quality leads, break solutions into epics, run design planning and split initiatives into journeys engineers can execute.
Own delivery of critical platform capabilities with high autonomy, mentoring others and keeping the team on schedule.
Raise engineering quality, resilience, performance, observability, security and reuse through shared patterns, standards and disciplined implementation.
Apply a security-first, risk-aware approach: weigh design trade-offs, clear blockers, and build resilience and operational readiness into systems and delivery.
Package and deploy containerised workloads with Docker and Kubernetes on Azure, AWS or GCP.
Keep code quality high through SOLID principles, sound design patterns, automated tests and tools such as SonarQube and Coverity.
Use data, experiments, customer feedback and operational insight to test assumptions and improve systems and methods.
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, explaining complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
Mentor engineers and raise the bar on technical quality, delivery practice and capability.
Requirements
Substantial experience building and delivering software, including leading complex technical work on products or platforms.
Substantial experience leading AI-enabled engineering in complex enterprise software, with measurable gains in developer productivity, quality and delivery.
Proven ability to find, assess and adopt modern AI-assisted development methods that improve architecture, design, coding speed, test effectiveness and operational support.
Deep hands-on skill in.NET Core, C or Java, with a record of building enterprise backend systems and APIs.
Strong experience with microservices, distributed systems and cloud-native design.
Solid grasp of software architecture, scalable design and engineering patterns, applied in enterprise settings.
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, with strong SQL and data modelling.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and at least one major cloud platform such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
Ability to guide design, shape architecture decisions and mentor peers through hands-on leadership.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, working independently while handling shifting priorities.
Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills, including explaining technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven record using modern engineering and automation to cut cycle time, raise reuse and speed delivery in cloud-native, distributed environments.
Preferred: experience in FinTech, especially financial markets, fraud prevention, digital identity or account verification.
Preferred: ability to use AI-enabled development to speed delivery, improve code quality and reuse, and raise overall engineering effectiveness.
Preferred: experience with event-driven architecture and message brokers such as RabbitMQ, AWS MQ or Azure Queue.
Preferred: familiarity with front-end or full-stack tools such as TypeScript, React, VueJS or Node.js.
Preferred: familiarity with NoSQL stores such as MongoDB, DynamoDB or CosmosDB.
Preferred: experience with highly distributed, data-intensive systems at scale.
