The company operates 64 television stations in 51 U.S. markets and reaches more than 100 million people each month through websites, mobile apps, streaming and broadcast TV. It is building a sustainable future for local news.

The station is the ABC affiliate in Corpus Christi, TX, and it is changing how it gathers and presents the news.

As the hub of the newsroom, this hybrid role combines assignment editing with digital content production. You will drive daily editorial work and build stories that connect with audiences on streaming, digital, social and broadcast.

You will work on a single unified story desk that replaces the older assignment and digital desks, with one workflow for planning, producing and curating stories on every platform.

You will lead breaking news coverage, set daily story plans and curate content across platforms, making firm editorial calls on a tight clock. You will work with MSJs, producers and photojournalists to deliver accurate, relevant stories for the community.

Responsibilities

• Lead and communicate coverage of breaking news, keeping it accurate, urgent and balanced.
• Edit reporter copy for accuracy, grammar, AP style, digital practice, fairness and ethics.
• Plan stories that matter to the community, using editorial judgment and social listening.
• Create and edit digital content for the website, mobile app and streaming.
• Add creative elements such as graphics, video and audience-submitted material.
• Direct newsroom logistics and give editorial support to MSJs, producers and photojournalists.
• Use metrics to shape coverage and grow audience reach.
• Help with newsroom operations and coverage planning when needed.
• Uphold the company's journalistic standards and values on every platform.

Requirements

• Have 3-5 years of journalism experience in a local newsroom, digital production or a related role.
• Hold a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or equivalent experience.
• Show strong news judgment and make quick, sound decisions under pressure.
• Write well, producing accurate and compelling content fast.
• Work with newsroom systems and CMS tools.
• Organize competing priorities in a deadline-heavy setting.
• Be collaborative and solutions-focused, and work well on a team.
