Description

Cogent is an applied AI lab building AI agents for cybersecurity. Its AI Taskforce reviews large volumes of enterprise data to fix problems before serious breaches happen.

The company pairs frontier research with hands-on product work. Cogent Research is the applied AI lab that supplies the research behind agentic security workflows.

Cogent has grown quickly since leaving stealth and works with Fortune 500 companies on some of the most complicated production environments. It is backed by Greylock.

The team includes people who studied at Stanford, Berkeley, Penn, Duke, Carnegie Mellon and Waterloo, and who have worked at Scale AI, Databricks, Stripe, Tesla, Coinbase, Wiz, Abnormal AI, Zscaler, DeepMind and SAIL.

The company is building its marketing team and wants people who work quickly, aim high and bring creative ideas that set it apart from typical B2B marketing.

This is a senior writing role. You will write the content that introduces security teams to Cogent and guides them to a purchase decision, including blog posts, whitepapers, ebooks, research reports, social series and short video scripts. Most of your time goes to interviewing experts, drafting and publishing. The rest goes to making sure the work is discovered through search, AI answers and social. You will turn product insight, original research, customer results and breaking security news into content that practitioners read and share.

Responsibilities

  • Write blog posts, whitepapers and ebooks that build awareness with security practitioners and move buyers through each stage of their decision.
  • Interview researchers, engineers and field staff for source material, and make sure every technical detail is accurate.
  • Respond quickly to breaking security news by publishing a point-of-view piece while the story is still relevant.
  • Run recurring social series such as weekly vulnerability management insights, AI security myths and remediation playbooks that keep Cogent's point of view visible to practitioners.
  • Write scripts for short videos and explainers, and manage the contractors who film and edit them.
  • Own the SEO and AEO program: find out what buyers search for and ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, then structure each piece to rank and get cited.
  • Monitor how content performs in search and AI answers, and update pieces whose performance declines.
  • Work with the research team on the flagship research report by analysing the data, shaping the findings into a narrative and writing the report.
  • Manage the research report through launch, then build derivative content from it, including blog series, social posts, short video and sales assets.
  • Turn the strongest research, product insight and customer stories in the content library into formats for new audiences.
  • Use AI across research synthesis, drafting, editing and repurposing to keep pace with a small team without sacrificing accuracy or voice.
  • Build tools that speed up the work, such as prompt libraries, voice guides and a continuously updated archive of positioning, proof points and research.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years in B2B content roles, including at least 3 years writing for security practitioners and buyers.
  • Strong writing and editorial judgment, with the ability to explain complex security topics plainly and credibly.
  • A record of content that drew attention, such as organic traffic and rankings, citations in AI answers, social engagement and downloads of long-form assets.
  • Hands-on SEO and AEO experience with tools such as Semrush, GA4, Profound and AirOps.
  • Experience shipping work at a fast-moving company without a large team behind you.
  • Practical AI skills in your daily work. You can describe a content workflow you built, where it failed and what you changed.
  • Nice to have: experience writing about vulnerability management, exposure management (CTEM), AppSec, cloud security or AI in security operations.
  • Nice to have: experience writing or managing a research report such as a threat report, benchmark or survey, and turning it into a full campaign of derivative content.
  • Nice to have: production skills beyond writing, such as short video, explainers or visual assets, or the judgment to direct contractors who make them.
  • Nice to have: experience growing a practitioner audience on LinkedIn.
